The Opportunity Allegro MicroSystems is seeking a Linux Administrator to join our global team in supporting Allegro’s high-performance Engineering Simulation environment. This role is critical to our product development cycle, as you will manage the infrastructure that allows our IC design engineers to simulate and verify the next generation of sensing and power technologies. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the Linux operating system in an enterprise environment, coupled with outstanding customer service skills and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable language for non-technical stakeholders. /ph3What You Will Do /h3pIn this role, you will be responsible for the operational support, maintenance, and evolution of our global Linux infrastructure. You will work closely with our corporate EDA group to ensure all standards are met and that our simulation clusters are running at peak efficiency. Plan, install, and provide daily support for all managed customer Linux environments, including both virtualized and physical systems. Collaborate with the global EDA operations team to resolve service incidents and ensure high availability for engineering design applications such as Cadence and Cliosoft. Perform server administration duties including installing, configuring, and testing servers, applying errata and hot fixes, and automating operational procedures. Administer Dell EMC VxRail platforms using VMware/vSphere technology. Build and deploy virtual machines and templates while managing Isilon storage platforms and SAN concepts. Manage and maintain enterprise-level services including NIS, NFS, CIFS, and various data transfer tools.
Utilize Zabbix or similar monitoring tools to ensure system health and use scripting languages (Bash, Python, or Perl) to improve operational workflows. Ensure timely resolution of high-severity incidents, including professional communication, reporting, and tracking of follow-up actions. Follow and create technical documentation for processes and standards while providing redundancy and cross-training for other members of the systems administration team. Participate in an on-call escalation support rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage for critical infrastructure. /ph3What You Will Bring /h3pBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5+ years managing an enterprise Linux environment and supporting general IT operations. Expert knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 6, 7, and 8. Proven experience with Windows Server OS, patching protocols, and VMware/ESXi environments. Hands‑on experience with Dell PowerEdge servers and Dell EMC storage solutions. Ability to read, understand, and write Linux scripts to automate manual tasks. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills with a proven ability to prioritize and organize effectively in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment.
