Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally. /p pOverview of the role /p pOur office-based department provides Civil and Structural expertise across Substation, HVDC Converter Station, Overhead Line, and Cable projects. We are looking for a experienced Civil Engineer to join our Digital Award winning High Voltage (HV) Civil and Structural Team based in Genova, Italy, Madrid, Spain or Belgrade, Serbia. The role will span a diverse portfolio of work and there will be opportunities for advancement within the team. /p pThe selected candidate will carry out work on HV Substation, HVDC Converter Station, Overhead Line and Cable projects, fulfilling tasks including: /p ul liDesign and Development functions: ul liFront End Engineering Design (FEED) /li liPreparation of drawings for use in planning applications and tender packages /li liDetailed Civil Design: drawings, cross-sections, and 3D models /li liDesign Coordination across multidisciplinary teams /li liPreparation of Specifications /li liCondition and Structural Assessment of existing structures to determine suitability for reuse /li /ul /li liDesign Assurance functions: ul liProducing and reviewing engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and reports for Civil designs /li liEngaging regularly with the Client and stakeholders to ensure the efficient delivery of projects, providing regular updates on progress and status of work within your own area of responsibility, as well as identifying and communicating issues that could impact programme,



quality or cost /li liProposal writing /li liProject Management and coordination across multi-disciplinary teams /li liEnsuring that design complies with relevant codes and regulations /li /ul /li liRoad specific: ul liCollaboration with civil engineers, urban planners, and transportation experts to create road designs that meet functional requirements /li liDevelopment of detailed plans for new roads, road extensions, or modifications to existing roadways /li liConsideration of factors such as traffic flow, safety, environmental impact, and aesthetics /li liDetermining the alignment (horizontal and vertical) of roads, including curves, slopes, and intersections /li liOptimizing road geometry to ensure smooth traffic flow, minimizing accidents, and accommodating pedestrians and cyclists /li liSelection of appropriate materials for road construction (e.g., asphalt, concrete) /li liSpecification of construction details, cross-sections, and pavement thickness /li liAssessment of environmental impact and incorporation of sustainable practices /li liConsideration of drainage, landscaping, and noise reduction /li liProficiency in using design software such as AutoCAD, Bentley Inroads, or similar tools /li liKnowledge on current EU highway design standards, safety guidelines, and legal requirements /li liExperience with road design projects /li /ul /li /ul pCandidate specification /p pRequirements: /p ul liAt the outset we would expect some experience in all named areas but, should your application be successful, you will have the opportunity to learn from other team members and to further develop your skills /li liWillingness to engage with new challenges as well as an ability to work confidently on tasks for which they have prior experience /li liDemonstrate good written communication skills including report writing /li liExcellent communication and people skills. You will be in a client facing role and will be expected to liaise with clients and contractors both on-site and over the phone /li liDegree in Civil engineering. They should also be a Chartered Engineer or be working towards applying chartership /li liPrepared to undertake leadership role and assist in further development of the team /li liPrevious experience as an Engineer working with Transmission and Distribution (TD) Networks in high voltage substations and cable routing projects would be an advantage /li liDetailed knowledge of construction health and safety regulations and preferably, although not essential, knowledge of transmission network operator’s construction practices /li liAwareness of process, equipment layout and associated considerations such as RFI /li /ul pAlthough the central team is mainly UK based,
