Within the "SAR Algorithms" organizational unit we are looking for a SAR - InSAR Algorithm Engineer at the Rome Office.
About the role
We're strengthening the algorithmic core of our team, which develops large-scale Earth Observation data processing capabilities based on satellite radar data. This role focuses on implementing, optimizing, and designing SAR and InSAR algorithms. You'll join the Algorithms and Prototypes unit, reporting to the team lead.
What you'll do
Implement and optimize SAR and InSAR processing algorithms, based on published literature and on designs from the team.
Prototype algorithmic improvements in Python, evaluating them against real data and reference results.
Refine validated prototypes toward robust, well-tested implementations suitable for large-scale processing.
Analyze algorithm performance and output quality, identifying and diagnosing issues in processing results.
Contribute to algorithm validation and collaborate with engineering team to integrate them into the processing pipeline.
Over time, contribute your own algorithmic designs, building on a solid theoretical and mathematical foundation
Required:
Master’s Degree in Physics, Engineering/Scientific or Earth Sciences; with emphasis on EO data processing algorithms and validation.
2–5 years of experience in remote sensing, signal processing, or a closely related field.
Solid knowledge of SAR fundamentals.
Strong Python skills for algorithm prototyping (numpy, scipy, and the scientific Python ecosyst
