Position Purpose POSITION PURPOSE: Provides speech screenings to children. Refers children and their parents to community agencies and professionals as appropriate.
Essential Functions
- Performs speech screenings for children ages 2.5 -5.11 years
- Assists in the coordination of Child Find and referral process
- Works with community agencies to provide services/programs to meet needs of children inside/outside of the school environment
- Cooperates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of children
- Compiles data and prepares various reports and records required by the school, district, and/or other agencies
Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of School Readiness, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent, or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology or Speech Education
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a professional teaching certificate in the area of Speech Correction from the South Carolina Department of Education
Experience
- Prior tutorial experience preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of children
- Ability to work with others
- Willingness to follow directions
- Ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with Board Policy
- Ability to accept individual differences among children
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented
