Material Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Materials & Welding Engineer to join an international engineering team working on a complex project.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials engineering, corrosion management and fabrication, with solid experience in the oil & gas / offshore industry and the ability to coordinate technical activities across multiple disciplines and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review material selection strategies and technical specifications for pipelines, fittings, subsea structures, flanges and CRA materials.
- Define requirements related to corrosion allowance, pressure and temperature classes and material compatibility.
- Develop and review internal and external corrosion protection strategies, including cathodic protection, coating systems and corrosion inhibitors.
- Review corrosion assessments, CP calculations, anode systems and coating specifications.
- Support welding engineering and fabrication activities, including WPS/PQR reviews, welder qualifications, weld overlay/cladding, heat treatment and NDT requirements.
- Define and review pipeline coating and field joint protection systems, including qualification testing and mechanical protection solutions.
- Contribute to pipeline integrity and technical assurance activities, including fracture toughness, sour service, fatigue, material traceability and failure investigations.
- Participate in technical reviews, audits and the resolution of NCRs and quality-related issues.
- Manage technical interfaces with pipeline, structural, fabrication and installation teams.
- Support vendor qualification and manufacturing surveillance, including line pipe mills, CRA suppliers, bending facilities and coating plants.
- Participate in FATs, mill testing and coating qualification activities.
- Monitor compliance with ITPs, QCPs, QA/QC requirements and technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Metallurgical, Mechanical or Corrosion Engineering.
- At least 12 years of relevant experience in materials engineering within the offshore/subsea or oil & gas industry.
- Proven experience with line pipe manufacturing, coating facilities and offshore field joint coating.
- Strong knowledge of metallurgy, particularly carbon steel, alloy steel, duplex and super duplex materials.
- Solid expertise in internal/external corrosion and cathodic protection.
- Experience with offshore coating and insulation systems such as FBE, 3LPE and polypropylene systems.
- Good knowledge of welding metallurgy, HAZ control and NDT techniques.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and technical documentation.
- Excellent technical communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous experience working with international vendors, fabrication yards and multidisciplinary engineering teams is highly desirable.

The salary range for this position is €65,000 to €95,000 gross per year. The position is governed by the Italian Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCNL) for Commerce and Tertiary Services applied by our company.
Placement within the salary range will be determined based on technical skills, relevant experience in the role, and the outcome of the selection process, according to objective and neutral criteria. In the case of candidates with exceptional qualifications or experience exceeding the requirements of the indicated range, a review of the salary package may be considered, subject to internal approval.
