Freelance AI Engineer (Italian Speaking) | Hybrid, Milan | 6-Month Contract + Extension
Location: Hybrid, 1-2 days per week in Milan
Contract: Freelance
Duration: 6 months initial contract with strong possibility of extension
Daily Rate: Negotiable
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop and deploy end-to-end AI solutions for enterprise clients.
Build intelligent applications using Agentic AI , Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI technologies.
Develop scalable backend services and APIs using Python.
Design and implement microservices-based architectures for AI applications.
Integrate AI models with enterprise systems and cloud environments.
Collaborate with software engineers, architects and business stakeholders to deliver innovative AI solutions.
Optimise, test and continuously improve AI applications for performance and scalability.
Stay up to date with emerging AI technologies and contribute new ideas to the wider engineering team.
Essential Skills & Experience:
2+ years' commercial experience as an AI Engineer .
Strong commercial experience developing AI solutions using Python .
Hands-on experience with Agentic AI , Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI (GenAI) .
Experience designing and delivering end-to-end AI applications.
Strong understanding of AI architecture, APIs and system integrations.
Experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.
Experience working with at least one major cloud platform, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .
Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes is highly desirable.
Strong software engineering fundamentals, ideally supported by a Computer Science or Software Engineering background.
Fluent Italian and English .
Nice to Have:
Experience as a Full Stack AI Engineer , working across the complete AI solution lifecycle.
Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents and multi-agent systems.
Cloud certifications in Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Databricks .
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience working within Agile development teams.
Curious, proactive and eager to learn new technologies and AI frameworks.
