BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Digital unit oversees the majority of the external facing online communications for the global channels. Our work streams include the management of WFP.org, the corporate communications site of the World Food Programme. The Digital Project Consultant will be supporting the management of WFP.org, the implementation of the SEO strategy and roll out of content to the language websites.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the overall guidance of the Head of Digital and direct supervision of Digital Platform Manager, the Digital Project Assistant will be responsible for the following activities:
Support implementation of the SEO and GEO strategy. Audit content,
identify high-performing keywords and key topics of interest for external audiences. Develop content briefs and liaise with editors to create high-quality content optimized for traditional and AI search engines.
Lead on consolidation of programmatic content across wfp.org. Build a focused and manageable content portfolio that would position WFP across main thematic areas of work.
Identify and address technical and content related SEO issues using Google Search Console, Analytics and other SEO tools.
Track how AI presents wfp.org content, identify gaps and priorities. Work with relevant teams to position wfp.org in AI search results. Support communications activities that enable informed decision making by collecting and analyzing data related to the website’s performance, produce accurate reports and interactive data dashboards.
Develop, execute and monitor paid ads that increase online visibility of WFP work, target key audiences and drive traffic to wfp.org website.
Quality assurance: test new features and functionalities of the website and provide clear feedback to the developers.
Design and deliver training to the editors of the WFP.org platform in English, and make sure all the guidelines are updated to reflect the latest functionalities of the platform.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Carry out SEO and GEO research for identified thematic priorities and draft audience-focused web content to position WFP across key work areas. Carry out post-implementation performance analysis to identify gaps and next steps.
- Conduct monthly SEO audits, and resolve any issues that have been identified.
- Draft regular reports with key performance metrics on WFP.org and ad campaigns, providing insights and/or action points.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: University degree in a relevant field or equivalent in work experience.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years work experience in similar roles and in an international environment.
Knowledge & skills:
- Experience with content management systems (preferably Drupal CMS).
- Experience working with SEO tools such as SEMrush, Google Analytics, and Google Search Console.
- Proven experience in writing clear, audience-focused web content optimized for search engines and generative AI platforms, following SEO, GEO and digital-content best practices.
- Able to collaborate on tasks with the team as well as to work independently when needed.
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and Human-centered design (HCD) will be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS desirable
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English is .
Working arrangements: Eligible for Occasional telecommuting as defined in the WFP Human Resources Manual Chapter V Section 7.8.
