ph3Control Room Operator /h3 pbLocation: /b Rome EUR, Italybr/bReports to: /b Director of Remote Operations /p h3Role Overview /h3 pThe Control Room Operator plays a key role in supporting the Operations Supervisor to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations across a diverse portfolio of power facilities.
This role is responsible for maximizing revenue delivery, coordinating real-time responses to alarm conditions, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and contractual obligations.
/p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liMonitor and operate a wide range of large and small generating assets using multiple monitoring and control platforms.
/li liEvaluate complex operating conditions against regulatory and contractual requirements, including operating contracts, OM agreements, transmission and scheduling guidelines, and business practice manuals.
/li liSupport OM compliance during equipment changes by enforcing change management policies and safeguarding Generator Owner interests.
/li liMonitor equipment not yet under OM jurisdiction, identify high-priority alarms, and provide risk mitigation recommendations to commissioning teams.
/li liOperate multiple power plant control systems, understand the behavior and capabilities of each technology, and predict grid responses to control actions.
/li liImplement voltage schedules in line with operating agreements and contracts.
/li liInitiate and document alarm response plans, ensuring timely communication of all required notifications to owners, transmission providers, and scheduling entities.
/li liPerform root-cause and failure analysis using historical data (e.g., inverter trips, MV equipment failures,
control system faults), ensuring accurate outage classification and reporting.
/li liCollaborate with maintenance teams to balance contractual obligations, outage impacts, and revenue optimization, always maximizing fleet value.
/li liMaintain the operator log to track outages, alarms, control actions, contractual changes, and interactions with regulatory bodies.
/li liProvide contractually required notifications of equipment failures and performance issues.
/li /ul h3Experience Qualifications /h3 h3Experience /h3 ul li6+ years of experience in power plant operations.
/li liSolid technical knowledge of plant processes, electrical systems, and SCADA.
/li liProven ability to analyze equipment performance and resolve performance issues.
/li /ul h3Behavioral Skills /h3 ul liStrong coordination skills, with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
/li liProblem-solving ability, both independently and in collaboration with teams.
/li liComfortable working in high-pressure environments with direct impact on safety and reliability.
/li liFluent in Italian and English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
/li /ul h3Technical Skills /h3 ul liProficiency with MS Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
/li liExperience with CMMS platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
/li liKnowledge of electronic power system protection equipment.
/li liVBA and/or SQL knowledge is an advantage.
/li /ul h3Education /h3 ul liDegree in power systems engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent apprenticeship training.
/li liRelevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
