This position helps to ensure that the gardens and grounds of Villa La Pietra are maintained and developed. Gardener responsibilities include maintain the health of green areas and the plants that form them, watering and feeding plants, trimming trees and shrubs, fertilizing plants and mowing lawns, weeding gardens and keeping green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter. Principal Duties
- pruning and clipping of boschetti and hedges of various dimensions;
- cutting of both fine turf and wildflower meadows;
- sweeping of leaves etc. from graveled areas in order to ensure they are clean, tidy and safe;
- watering of plants in both post and the open ground.
- maintenance of drainage systems across the estate;
- planting and caring of a range of garden plants;
- prepare for garden-based events and, if required, participate in hosting them.
- Machine operation Qualifications:
**Required Education**:




Required Certification/Other Qualifications Possession of, or willingness to acquire certification to spray pesticides and to drive a tractor,
Possession of, or willingness to acquire certification as a First Aider. Languages: Italian - English **Preferred Education**:
Diploma from an Istituto Agrario **Preferred Certification/Other Qualifications**:
Certification to operate a cherry picker
Certification to testify attendance of a course in the safe use of a chainsaw
Any certification attesting capabilities as a tree climber or ability to fell or prune trees **Required Experience**:
Three years of practical, hands-on, gardening experience as a gardener. **Preferred Experience**:
Three years of practical, hands-on, gardening experience in a listed Italian historic garden.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
An ability to speak English
An ability to use basic computer programs. **Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
