JOB TITLE: WFP Volunteer TYPE OF CONTRACT: Voluntary Assignment

SUPERVISOR: Cecilia Aspe, head of Data & Content team
DURATION: 6 months, starting in September 2026
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT The Logistics Cluster Data & Content team supports humanitarian partners and field teams by producing, managing and disseminating information products, digital tools and analytical outputs that facilitate operational decision-making, learning and preparedness.
As the volume of data, digital platforms and information needs continues to grow, there is an opportunity to strengthen the team's analytical capacity and explore innovative approaches to information management and knowledge generation.
The volunteer assignment aims to support the Data & Content team in enhancing its digital presence, improving the use and analysis of data, and identifying opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI). The assignment will provide practical support to ongoing projects while contributing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to improve processes, products and user engagement.
The volunteer will work closely with HQ colleagues and contribute to both short-term deliverables and longer-term initiatives that strengthen the effectiveness and impact of the team's information management activities.
DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Head of the Data & Content team, the volunteer will support a range of activities related to digital engagement, data analysis and innovation.
Key responsibilities will include reviewing and analysing the audience, reach and performance of the team's digital platforms and tools, including websites, applications and other digital tools. The volunteer will help identify trends, user needs, opportunities for improvement and recommendations to enhance visibility, accessibility and user experience.
The volunteer will also provide ad hoc support for the development of information products and analytical outputs. This may include data cleaning, consolidation and analysis; preparation of dashboards, visualisations and presentations; and support to reporting, surveys, monitoring exercises and other information management projects.
In addition, the volunteer will contribute to exploring ways to leverage AI and automation to improve data monitoring, information processing, learning capture and longer-term analytical work.
As the assignment progresses, additional tasks and projects may be identified based on operational priorities, the volunteer's interests and demonstrated performance
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
By the end of the assignment, the volunteer will have contributed to a clearer understanding of the team's audience, reach and digital footprint, including actionable recommendations to improve digital platforms, products and engagement strategies. The assignment is expected to generate analytical insights and practical improvements that support more informed decision-making and enhance the visibility and usability of the team's information products and services.
The volunteer will also deliver a range of high-quality analytical and communication products, including cleaned datasets, visualisations, presentations and other information management outputs, as required. Furthermore, the assignment should identify and, where feasible, pilot opportunities to streamline and automate selected information management processes through AI-enabled approaches and other innovative solutions. Overall, the volunteer is expected to strengthen the team's capacity, efficiency and ability to generate evidence-based insights for both immediate operational needs and longer-term planning.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Master’s degree in Economics, Data Analysis or Political Science
Experience: Experience in research would be appreciated.
Knowledge & Skills
- Analytical skills including the ability to select, adapt and apply suitable and relevant resources, to analyse contextual and statistical data and to present information and results through the most appropriate products and formats;
- Communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders and to understand logistics challenges;
- Actively listen, demonstrate genuine interest and learn what is happening in the wider context;
- Ability to work effectively in international environments;
- Interest for global cooperation and humanitarian sector;
- Data collection and visualization software/tools like Excel, Kobo, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and ArcGIS;
- Organizational skills including record keeping, data handling and database management skills using MS Excel, MS Access or other databases;
- Communication skills including the ability to speak honestly and respectfully;
- Interpersonal skills such as the ability to seek, act on and provide constructive performance feedback.
Languages: Fluency in English (level C) is required. Knowledge of: French, Arabic and/or Spanish is an asset.
