Business Line Motors & Generators, ABB Motion (based in Europe / Asia)
The opportunity
We are looking for an Industry Sales Manager to own the global growth strategy in utilities/process industries within Business Line Motors & Generators. You will build strategic customer and industry relationships, identify and shape opportunities at an early stage, and translate market needs into segment priorities, qualified pipeline and sustainable business growth.
You will act as the global industry expert and guide ABB's sales organization on where and how to compete. The role focuses on long-term market development and early opportunity shaping and project capturing.
Your responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Strategy & Market Development
Develop and execute global industry growth strategies and business plans for assigned segments. Drive segment growth by creating, qualifying and prioritizing a healthy long-term pipeline of opportunities and projects. Optimize ABB Motors & Generators global footprint market acceptance through actively driving AVL (approved vendor list) expansions to End Users.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
Lead early-stage strategic engagement with end users, EPCs, OEMs and other industry influencers to shape customer needs and technical specifications. Develop senior-level relationships with major accounts and key industry stakeholders.
- Opportunity Identification & Sales Leadership
Identify and shape strategic opportunities,
nominate priority pursuits, and support the responsible sales owner during the capture phase. Guide Local Sales Units, Account Managers and business leaders on industry priorities, account positioning and opportunity qualification.
- Industry Expertise & Market Intelligence
Act as the industry specialist for assigned segments and provide guidance on market trends, applications, competition and customer needs. Translate industry requirements and market intelligence into portfolio, offering and go-to-market priorities.
- Marketing & Cross-functional Collaboration
Lead industry-focused value propositions, marketing and customer engagement activities together with relevant stakeholders. Work in collaboration across Motion and other ABB Divisions.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business or a related field
- Proven track record in industrial B2B sales, market development and delivering sustainable growth
- Experience engaging end users, EPCs, OEMs and major industrial accounts at strategic and senior stakeholder level
- Strong sales leadership, customer engagement and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to develop industry strategies, identify and qualify opportunities, and influence a global sales organization
- Strategic mindset with excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills
- Experience working effectively in a global matrix organization
- Knowledge of motors, generators, drives or related industrial technologies is an advantage
- Fluent written and spoken English and willingness to travel internationally approximately 30% of working time

Location and work model
Position can be based out of Europe or Asia. Location and applicable hybrid or remote work model will be agreed with the selected candidate and confirmed by the recruiter.
