Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Academic Services and Lecturer bears primary responsibility for the NYU Florence (NYUF) academic program, from course and lecturer planning to student learning. This full-time position oversees the academic administration of and teaches in the NYUF program. This position reports to the Academic Director of NYUF and, functionally, to the Associate Director and to the Assistant Vice President for Academics in the Office of Global Programs, and is a member of the NYUF senior leadership team.
This role requires both teaching and administrative work, including: supervise all aspects of the NYU Florence academic program, including teaching, research, and academic partnerships; teach 2-3 coursesper academic year; oversee student advising; foster collaboration between local faculty and staff to achieve University goals; develop and mentor faculty; assist in management of NYUF’s expanding research program; coordinate academic and co-curricular events; and collaborate closely with the Office of Student Life to ensure enhanced learning outcomes inside and beyond the classroom. The Assistant Director will coordinate across NYU Florence and New York staff and faculty to ensure the effective delivery of excellent academic programs consistent with NYU's leadership in global higher education.
Program strengths include a first year away program; a wide-ranging undergraduate curriculum including Arts, Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, Professional programs, and Health; experiential learning and community-engagement opportunities; and research accreditation as an Italian research institution,
enabling NYU faculty to apply for EU grants through NYUF.

Qualifications:
Current Required EducationA Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant field preferred by the date of appointment
Current Required ExperienceAt least 3 years' progressively responsible experience in academic administration or a related area, or an equivalent combination. Must include experience leading projects and managing office operations, budgets, and staff. Must include a minimum three years of university-level teaching experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Current Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. Proven cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate appropriately with a multinational, multicultural and multireligious population of students, academics and administrators.
Ability to interact with distinguished visitors, faculty, and students. Understand and empathize with the needs and expectations of international students. Proven ability to direct and implement a variety of operations and activities, to communicate policies and procedures to individuals at all levels and use problem solving and negotiating skills./ Knowledge of standard office software including Google Workspace. Excellent written & oral communication skills, with experience of addressing public audiences. Proficiency in English (written and oral) and Italian (written and oral). Eligible to legally work in Italy.
Current Preferred ExperienceExperience in an academic environment with prior experience mentoring faculty, as well as coordinating or overseeing administrative projects in a university setting. Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, preferably with a global emphasis. Publications or other evidence of outstandingscholarship, creative work, or relevant professional activity. Experience in U.S. and Italian higher education.
Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
