Join ORiS and help build the future of energy in space.

At ORiS, we are building the technologies that will power the next generation of space missions. Through laser-based wireless power transmission, we aim to overcome the energy limitations of today’s satellites and enable longer, more capable, and more resilient operations in orbit.

We are looking for a versatile Junior Systems Engineer to support the development of ORiS’s inter-satellite wireless power transmission mission.

You will work across multiple engineering disciplines, helping translate mission objectives into system requirements, architectures, interfaces, performance budgets, verification activities, and integrated solutions. Working closely with senior engineers and subsystem specialists, you will contribute to the coordination of the mission’s optical, electronic, mechanical, thermal, software, GNC, and power subsystems.

This is a multidisciplinary engineering role covering the full mission development lifecycle, from system definition and design coordination to integration, verification, and validation.

What You Will Do

-

- Support the definition and management of mission and system requirements, architectures, interfaces, and technical specifications.

- Contribute to concept studies, trade-off analyses, system budgets, and mission-performance assessments.

- Translate system-level requirements into clear inputs for Optical, Electronics, Mechanical, Thermal, Software, GNC,

and Power teams.

- Support the definition and maintenance of interface-control documents and technical documentation.

- Develop models and simulations using Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent tools.

- Participate in subsystem integration, laboratory testing, hardware-in-the-loop activities, and system verification and validation.

- Analyse test results, identify system-level issues, and coordinate their resolution with the relevant engineering teams.

- Support risk management, configuration control, design reviews, and mission-development milestones.

- Contribute flexibly to technical activities across the different phases of the inter-satellite WPT mission.

What We Are Looking For

-

- MSc in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.

- Up to 2 years of experience (including internships or university research) in systems engineering or space projects.

- Basic understanding of systems engineering processes and the full engineering lifecycle.

- Knowledge of requirements management, system architecture, and interface definition.

- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.

- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

- Professional proficiency in English.

Nice to Have

-

- Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, satellite architectures, orbital mechanics, GNC, or mission analysis.

- Familiarity with optical systems, spacecraft power systems, thermal design, or space communications.

- Experience with MBSE, SysML, Capella, Cameo, or requirements-management tools.

- Experience with system budgets, trade-off studies, simulation, or technical data analysis.

- Familiarity with verification, hardware-in-the-loop testing, environmental testing, or spacecraft integration.

- Knowledge of ECSS standards or experience gained through CubeSat, ESA, university, or New Space projects. xysqume

Why ORiS

-

- Work on innovative satellite missions and advanced space technologies

- Play a key role in shaping system-level decisions that directly impact mission success

- Collaborate with highly skilled engineers across multiple technical disciplines

- Gain exposure to cutting-edge space programs and emerging technologies

- Grow professionally within a fast-growing and ambitious space company

- Be part of a culture driven by innovation, ownership, and technical excellence

Our Offer

-

- EUR 1,000 per year in fringe benefits

- Flexible lavoro da remoto arrangements, subject to project needs

- Stock option plan
