Position Summary
Aliquantum International Inc. (AQI) is seeking a hands-on and highly accountable Senior Staff Accountant to support our growing accounting organization.
This position will serve as the senior day-to-day accounting resource responsible for ensuring Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), collections, and month-end close activities are completed accurately and on time.
The Senior Staff Accountant will oversee and support members of the accounting team while remaining actively involved in the work.
This is not a position for someone who only wants to review or supervise from a distance.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working through accounting details, solving problems, reviewing transactions, training junior staff, and stepping into AR or AP responsibilities whenever necessary.
This position reports to the Financial Controller & Business Planning Manager and is intended for someone who wants to continue developing both technically and as a leader.
A successful individual will have the opportunity to take on broader accounting responsibilities and potentially develop into an Accounting Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & General Accounting
Take an active role in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, schedules, and other month-end accounting activities.
Ensure assigned close activities are completed accurately and according to established
Review account balances and supporting schedules for accuracy, completeness, and unusual
Investigate variances, discrepancies, and accounting issues and recommend appropriate corrective
Maintain supporting documentation and ensure accounting records are organized and audit-
Assist the Controller with financial reporting, audit requests, and other accounting projects as
Continuously improve close procedures, reconciliations, and accounting
Accounts Receivable & Collections
Oversee the complete AR process and ensure invoices, cash applications, credits, deductions, and customer account activity are processed accurately and timely.
Maintain visibility over AR aging and actively manage past-due
Lead collection follow-up and ensure overdue accounts receive appropriate and timely
Escalate collection risks, disputes, or significantly aged balances before they become larger
Review customer accounts and work with Sales, Operations, and other departments to resolve
Cross-train on all key AR responsibilities and provide backup support when
Train and develop the Accounting Assistant responsible for day-to-day AR
Accounts Payable
Provide oversight of AP activities to ensure invoices, payments, vendor records,
and supporting documentation are processed accurately and on time.
Work closely with the Senior AP Supervisor and accounting staff to resolve AP issues and maintain appropriate controls.
Review AP aging, payment requirements, vendor discrepancies, and unusual transactions when
Cross-train on critical AP processes and serve as backup support when
Help maintain proper segregation of duties and consistent accounting
Team Leadership & Development
Provide day-to-day accounting leadership and coordination across the accounting
Help establish priorities, assign work, monitor deadlines, and ensure responsibilities are
Review work prepared by junior accounting staff and provide timely feedback and
Develop the Accounting Assistants through cross-training and progressively more complex
Support the development of high-potential employees who may advance into Staff Accountant
Work closely with the Senior AP Supervisor while maintaining overall visibility into AP performance and workload.
Create an environment where problems are communicated early rather than allowed to remain
Serve as a dependable escalation point for day-to-day accounting questions before Controller involvement is required.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and
Help document and maintain accounting procedures and
Support ERP, reporting, automation, and accounting system improvement
Work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Planning, Sales, Operations, and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
Support cross-training between AR, AP, purchasing support, and other related functions where
Utilize available technology, including AI and automation tools, to improve productivity, analysis, and
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related
Approximately 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful month-end close experience.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, AR, AP, and basic financial reporting.
Hands-on experience preparing month-end journal entries and account
Experience reviewing the work of junior accounting staff or providing day-to-day
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting and ERP
Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize when an issue requires further
Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-moving
Strong written and verbal communication
Willingness to speak up, ask questions, elevate concerns, and take ownership of problems through
Must be willing to work full-time on-site in Ontario, California.
Preferred
Experience in distribution, consumer products, manufacturing, or a multi-entity
Experience overseeing or working across both AR and
Experience with collections and AR aging
Prior supervisory, team-lead, or staff-development
Exposure to inventory accounting, purchasing, or supply-chain-related
Experience supporting external audits and year-end
Experience improving accounting processes or implementing new
Familiarity with AI-enabled productivity or accounting

As the Senior Staff Accountant demonstrates strong technical performance, effective team leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage day-to-day accounting operations, there is an opportunity for expanded responsibility and potential advancement to Accounting Manager.
Compensation
Base Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 annually
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, technical accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and overall fit for the position.
