The Opportunity
We are looking forPLC / Automation Engineersto support a live industrial automation troubleshooting project inItaly.
The key requirement is strong hands-on experience withSiemens PLCs and TIA Portal, withOmronexperience considered an advantage.
This is aproduction support and troubleshooting-focused assignment, rather than a greenfield programming project.
You will be responsible for investigating live automation issues, analysing PLC logic, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and production performance.
If you enjoy getting hands-on with complex machinery, diagnosing faults and solving real production problems, this could be an excellent opportunity.
What You'll Be Doing
TroubleshootSiemens PLC-controlled production equipment
UseTIA Portalfor online diagnostics and fault finding
Analyse existing PLC logic, sequences and interlocks
Investigate recurring equipment faults, stoppages and downtime
Diagnose issues across PLC software, electrical systems, sensors, drives, instrumentation and communications
Troubleshoot automated machinery and production lines
Identify bottlenecks, intermittent faults and reliability issues
Perform detailedroot-cause analysis
Recommend corrective actions and technical improvements
Create clear action plans outlining issues, priorities and recommended solutions
Support the implementation and testing of corrective actions
Work closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams
Document technical findings and any software changes
The core requirement is the ability tosystematically diagnose why automated equipment isn't performing correctly and determine the most effective solution.




Technical Experience
We are particularly interested in engineers with hands-on experience in:
S****** / S******
PLC diagnostics and online troubleshooting
Ladder Logic, FBD and/or Structured Text / SCL
Industrial Ethernet /Profinet
Drives and motor control
Sensors, actuators and field devices
Automated machinery and production lines
Electrical fault finding
Machine sequencing and interlocks
Commissioning and start-up
Production troubleshooting
Root-cause analysis
Experience withOmron PLCs, including Sysmac Studio or CX-Programmer, would be beneficial but isnot essential.
Experience with other platforms such asRockwell / Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff or Mitsubishiis also advantageous.

We are particularly interested inmid-level / medior Automation Engineerswith a strong practical background.

You should ideally have:
2+ years' hands-on PLC / Automation experience
Strong experience withSiemens TIA Portal
Experience troubleshooting automated production equipment
The ability to go online with Siemens PLCs and diagnose live faults
Confidence reading and understanding existing PLC code
Strong fault-finding and root-cause analysis skills
Good understanding of electrical drawings and automation hardware
Experience working in live manufacturing or production environments
The ability to distinguish between software, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical faults
Experience working alongside maintenance and production teams
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
A practical, hands-on approach
Flexibility to work athree-shift rotation
Availability to workfully onsite in Italy for 3-6 months
This opportunity would suit an engineer with several years ofSiemens automation experiencewho enjoys troubleshooting, fault finding and improving real-world production systems.
