We're partnering with a leading international manufacturing organisation that is investing heavily in its technology and digital capabilities. They are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a long-term transformation programme based in Florence.
This is an excellent opportunity for a developer looking for a stable, long-term freelance engagement with the potential to continue beyond the initial contract.
Location: Florence, Italy
Working Model: 5 days per week onsite
Contract: 12-month freelance contract + extension
Start Date: September 2026
Language: Italian speaking
Experience: 5+ years' commercial Java experience
The Opportunity
You'll join an established technology team working on business-critical software within a large-scale manufacturing environment.
We're looking for a developer who can contribute from day one,
work effectively within an experienced engineering team and take ownership of delivering high-quality Java solutions.
Key Requirements

- 5+ years' commercial experience developing with Java .
- Strong understanding of Java development and software engineering best practices.
- Experience working on enterprise-scale applications and complex technical environments.
- Ability to analyse requirements, design solutions and deliver robust, maintainable code.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within a development team.
- Fluent Italian is essential.
- Ability to work 5 days per week onsite in Florence .
