Computacenter GIS Business Unit is seeking a confident and experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support and enhance critical Java-based applications and services. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring platform reliability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence. Working closely with Development, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Security teams, you will drive automation, observability, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives across enterprise applications.
What you'll do
- Perform a complex range of technical work activities to meet business and customer requirements.
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Java applications and microservices running in production environments.
- Monitor application and infrastructure health using enterprise observability and monitoring tools.
- Participate in incident management, troubleshooting production issues, and performing root cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain automation solutions to reduce operational overhead and improve service stability.
- Coordinate small teams delivering work packages in line with company processes and customer requirements.
- Provide technical leadership within the Java SRE and application support domain.
- Collaborate with Development, Platform Engineering, Cloud, and Security teams to improve service resilience and scalability.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines and support automated deployments across multiple environments.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and technical procedures.
- Contribute to the development of standards, best practices, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive system optimization.
- Escalate issues appropriately in line with company processes to ensure customer expectations are met.
