Within the "SAR Algorithms" organizational unit we are looking for a SAR - InSAR Algorithm Engineer at the Rome Office. /ph3About the role /h3pWe're strengthening the algorithmic core of our team, which develops large-scale Earth Observation data processing capabilities based on satellite radar data. This role focuses on implementing, optimizing, and designing SAR and InSAR algorithms. You'll join the Algorithms and Prototypes unit, reporting to the team lead. /ph3What you’ll do /h3ulliImplement and optimize SAR and InSAR processing algorithms, based on published literature and on designs from the team. /liliPrototype algorithmic improvements in Python, evaluating them against real data and reference results. /liliRefine validated prototypes toward robust, well-tested implementations suitable for large-scale processing. /liliAnalyze algorithm performance and output quality, identifying and diagnosing issues in processing results. /liliContribute to algorithm validation and collaborate with engineering team to integrate them into the processing pipeline. /liliOver time, contribute your own algorithmic designs, building on a solid theoretical and mathematical foundation. /li /ulh3Required /h3ulliMaster’s Degree in Physics,
Engineering/Scientific or Earth Sciences; with emphasis on EO data processing algorithms and validation. /lili2–5 years of experience in remote sensing, signal processing, or a closely related field. /liliSolid knowledge of SAR fundamentals. /liliStrong Python skills for algorithm prototyping (numpy, scipy, and the scientific Python ecosystem). /liliA solid mathematical background (signal processing, linear algebra, statistics/estimation). /liliRigorous approach to validation/verification activities. /liliAbility to write clear, structured, maintainable code. /liliStrong teamwork and collaboration skills. /liliEnglish proficiency at B2 level or above (written and spoken). /li /ulh3Nice to have /h3ulliKnowledge of InSAR techniques (strong plus). /liliExperience bringing scientific code to production level (testing, code review, performance optimization). /liliExperience with Linux. /liliProficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (branching, merge/pull requests, code review). /liliFamiliarity with large-scale or distributed data processing (e.g. HPC environments, Dask). /liliExperience with geospatial data handling and formats (e.g. QGIS, GeoParquet, Zarr). /liliExperience working on ESA projects and familiarity with ECSS standards.
