Job Overview:The Area Manager Construction is tasked with the development planning and executing construction of an area of the LNG facility.

The role requires multi-disciplinary expertise and the ability to understand the industry to achieve financial and operational objectives.
The Senior Manager Construction manages multiple related teams, sets their organizational priorities, and allocates the appropriate resources.
They will be required to manage and coordinate multiple contractors operating within their area of responsibility They must be able to identify and resolve a range of complex technical, operational, and organizational problems.
The Senior Manager Construction directly impacts business results by supporting and function-specific projects, products, services, and/or technologies, and developing policies and plans.Key Task and Responsibilities:Understanding of full EPC project lifecycle and interfaces essentialKey strategic role as McDermott senior representative in partner office Milan for one year then Senior CM on site.Comfortable in HO environment and capable of stakeholder management of partners within JV whilst ensuring company interests are protectedContribute to development and influence of key strategies and planning such as implementation of Advanced Work Packs processes, sub-contract strategies, site establishment, constructability, Scopes of Work and schedule forecasting.Monitor partner processes and procedures to ensure compliance and interface compatibility with McDermott company practicesDevelop Sub-contract scopes of work and participate in high value multi-discipline bid reviewsComfortable working closely and communicating with project stakeholders including engineering, supply chain, project management, Quality, EHS and sub-contract managementLead the team to deliver a successful projectResponsible for planning and execution of the construction plan at the job site including all construction activities and changes to the plan as required and to meet schedule and cost goals of the projectResponsible for formulating a competent construction execution planResponsible for safety, quality, client interface, construction operations, cost, and schedule,
which includes the major risk component – labor productivityActively participate in the development of a construction HSSE culture that makes safety and environmental awareness a natural part of the jobProvide constructability input during designDevelop a construction organizational plan commensurate with the requirements of the Project Documents and sells the Project Execution Plan to ManagementVisit sites for pending projects and evaluate site conditions and extraordinary requirementsAccountable for the functional direction, coordination, and performance of all on-site construction operations and support departments including field management, quality, safety, material management, procurement, construction engineering, human resources, business services, industrial relations, and facility turnoverMaintain plan alignment by continuously assessing the evolving project and updating the Plan, and communicating and reinforcing construction requirements within the project teamCoordinate and interface with others as required to execute the construction plan and assure that labor, equipment, and materials are available to support the construction effortAssure that construction work is performed within the budget and schedule constraints of the projectControl change/scope creep, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented, and that change orders are approved prior to the performance of workReview the contractual commitments of contractors including cost, quality, and schedule and verify their field activitiesMonitor and control cost, schedule, progress, and productivity including analyzing deviations and taking action to correct negative trendsAdvise management of developments that could affect project profit, schedule, costs, client relations,
and interdepartmental or inter-divisional relationsProvide the approval and implementation of the Construction Quality Management PlanDevelop the project schedule with the project teamApprove and release to the appropriate personnel, change orders resulting from requests for extra work by the client or in-house requests, whenever such work is not included in the original contracted budget and scope of workMaintain a chronological record of the project history by having the minutes of meetings and telephone conversations writtenConfirm in writing all significant instructions given to the project team or received from ClientManage weekly project status and safety meetingsDevelop an atmosphere of open and honest communication between MDR and Owner, with the goal of excellence in customer relationshipsOwn and lead the implementation, enforcement, xysqume and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and proceduresEnsure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and proceduresEnsure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teamsEssential Qualifications and Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent on-the-job experienceMinimum of 15-20 years of experience in industrial construction projects with knowledge of Construction PlanningPrior experience on a construction site, involved with work planning activities including a high level of knowledge and experience with the implementation of detailed work planning processes and proceduresKnowledge of AWP as a project management methodology and familiarity with all phases of a project lifecycleStrong communication and presentation skills, ability to convey complex conceptsAdvanced MS Office skills, specifically with Excel and AccessImplementation and Management of MDR procedures and standardsExperience in leadership positions and ability to influence others at a professional levelAdvanced understanding of construction sequencing and construction techniquesExcellent attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines, troubleshoot, and resolve issuesEnergetic with a positive and enthusiastic disposition, possessing a can-do attitudeRespected for uncompromising integrity, work ethic, and professionalismUnderstand organizational structures for all roles that coincide with WorkFace PlanningShould clearly understand contract requirements#LI-JA1
