(AQI) is seeking a hands-on and highly accountable Senior Staff Accountant to support our growing accounting organization.
This position will serve as the senior day-to-day accounting resource responsible for ensuring Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), collections, and month-end close activities are completed accurately and on time.
/p pThe Senior Staff Accountant will oversee and support members of the accounting team while remaining actively involved in the work.
This is not a position for someone who only wants to review or supervise from a distance.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working through accounting details, solving problems, reviewing transactions, training junior staff, and stepping into AR or AP responsibilities whenever necessary.
/p pThis position reports to the Financial Controller Business Planning Manager and is intended for someone who wants to continue developing both technically and as a leader.
A successful individual will have the opportunity to take on broader accounting responsibilities and potentially develop into an Accounting Manager role.
/p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 h3Month-End Close General Accounting /h3 ul liTake an active role in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close /li liPrepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, schedules, and other month-end accounting activities.
/li liEnsure assigned close activities are completed accurately and according to established /li liReview account balances and supporting schedules for accuracy, completeness, and unusual /li liInvestigate variances, discrepancies, and accounting issues and recommend appropriate corrective /li liMaintain supporting documentation and ensure accounting records are organized and audit- /li liAssist the Controller with financial reporting, audit requests, and other accounting projects as /li liContinuously improve close procedures, reconciliations, and accounting /li /ul h3Accounts Receivable Collections /h3 ul liOversee the complete AR process and ensure invoices, cash applications, credits, deductions, and customer account activity are processed accurately and timely.
/li liMaintain visibility over AR aging and actively manage past-due /li liLead collection follow-up and ensure overdue accounts receive appropriate and timely /li liEscalate collection risks, disputes, or significantly aged balances before they become larger /li liReview customer accounts and work with Sales, Operations, and other departments to resolve /li liCross-train on all key AR responsibilities and provide backup support when /li liTrain and develop the Accounting Assistant responsible for day-to-day AR /li /ul h3Accounts Payable /h3 ul liProvide oversight of AP activities to ensure invoices, payments, vendor records, and supporting documentation are processed accurately and on time.




/li liWork closely with the Senior AP Supervisor and accounting staff to resolve AP issues and maintain appropriate controls.
/li liReview AP aging, payment requirements, vendor discrepancies, and unusual transactions when /li liCross-train on critical AP processes and serve as backup support when /li liHelp maintain proper segregation of duties and consistent accounting /li /ul h3Team Leadership Development /h3 ul liProvide day-to-day accounting leadership and coordination across the accounting /li liHelp establish priorities, assign work, monitor deadlines, and ensure responsibilities are /li liReview work prepared by junior accounting staff and provide timely feedback and /li liDevelop the Accounting Assistants through cross-training and progressively more complex /li liSupport the development of high-potential employees who may advance into Staff Accountant /li liWork closely with the Senior AP Supervisor while maintaining overall visibility into AP performance and workload.
/li liCreate an environment where problems are communicated early rather than allowed to remain /li liServe as a dependable escalation point for day-to-day accounting questions before Controller involvement is required.
/li /ul h3Process Improvement Cross-Functional Support /h3 ul liIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and /li liHelp document and maintain accounting procedures and /li liSupport ERP, reporting, automation, and accounting system improvement /li liWork cross-functionally with Purchasing, Planning, Sales, Operations, and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
/li liSupport cross-training between AR, AP, purchasing support, and other related functions where /li liUtilize available technology, including AI and automation tools, to improve productivity, analysis, and /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 h3Required /h3 ul liBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related /li liApproximately 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful month-end close experience.
/li liStrong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, AR, AP, and basic financial reporting.
/li liHands-on experience preparing month-end journal entries and account /li liExperience reviewing the work of junior accounting staff or providing day-to-day /li liStrong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting and ERP /li liStrong attention to detail with the ability to recognize when an issue requires further /li liAbility to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-moving /li liStrong written and verbal communication /li liWillingness to speak up, ask questions, elevate concerns, and take ownership of problems through /li liMust be willing to work full-time on-site in Ontario, California.




/li /ul h3Preferred /h3 ul liExperience in distribution, consumer products, manufacturing, or a multi-entity /li liExperience overseeing or working across both AR and /li liExperience with collections and AR aging /li liPrior supervisory, team-lead, or staff-development /li liExposure to inventory accounting, purchasing, or supply-chain-related /li liExperience supporting external audits and year-end /li liExperience improving accounting processes or implementing new /li liFamiliarity with AI-enabled productivity or accounting /li /ul h3Ideal Candidate Profile /h3 pThe Ideal Candidate Is a Strong Accountant First, But Also Someone Who Wants To Grow Into Leadership.

As the Senior Staff Accountant demonstrates strong technical performance, effective team leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage day-to-day accounting operations, there is an opportunity for expanded responsibility and potential advancement to Accounting Manager.
