/p ul liProject and programme management /li liLicensing /li liRadioactive waste management /li liRadiation protection /li liDecommissioning and nuclear engineering /li liWorksite management and safety /li liNon-nuclear engineering /li liFacility supervision and quality assurance /li /ul h3Job Purpose /h3 pProvide technical expertise for the management of radioactive waste arising from decommissioning activities at JRC facilities. Support the development and implementation of waste management strategies in compliance with Italian, EU, and IAEA regulations and standards. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 h3Waste Management Planning /h3 ul liDevelop and implement radioactive waste management strategies. /li liSupport waste minimisation and waste hierarchy initiatives. /li liPrepare waste treatment, conditioning, packaging, transport, and disposal plans. /li liCoordinate interfaces between decommissioning and waste management activities. /li /ul h3Waste Characterisation /h3 ul liDefine waste characterization programmes. /li liAssess radiological and chemical inventories. /li liReview sampling and analysis methodologies, and non-destructive testing requirements. /li liReview assay and analysis results. /li liClassify waste according to local regulations. /li /ul h3Regulatory Compliance /h3 pEnsure compliance with: /p ul liIAEA Safety Standards /li liEuratom requirements /li liItalian nuclear regulations /li liEnvironmental legislation /li liSupport preparation of licensing and regulatory submissions. /li liInterface with regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
/li /ul h3Technical Support /h3 ul liReview contractor deliverables and technical studies. /li liSupport design and operation of waste storage facilities. /li liMonitor waste treatment and conditioning activities. /li liProvide technical recommendations to project management teams. /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 h3Essential: /h3 ul liMaster's degree in Nuclear / Environmental Engineering / Waste Management / Physics or related scientific discipline /li liSignificant experience in radioactive waste management. /li liExperience supporting nuclear decommissioning projects. /li liKnowledge of waste characterization, treatment, conditioning, storage, and disposal. /li liExperience working in regulated nuclear environments. /li liStrong team collaboration, stakeholder management and communication skills /li liGood analytical thinking and problem-solving skills required /li /ul h3Desirable: /h3 ul liExperience with EU-funded or international nuclear projects. /li liExperience at research reactors, fuel cycle facilities, or legacy nuclear sites. /li liRegulatory engagement experience. /li /ul h3Our Culture /h3 pOur values are built on a strong foundation of safety, integrity, and respect for every individual.
