Leonardo is one of the strategic industrial partners of the GCAP (Global Combat Air Programme) alongside the British BAE Systems and the Japanese Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The program aims to develop and implement a new generation air system, defined as a “system of systems”.
Used for multi-domain operations in the defense sector, the system will feature a “core platform” connected to other peripheral “adjuncts” systems, both piloted and unpiloted. The program, among the most challenging and futuristic for the aerospace and defense industry, will drive the technological revolution that will characterize the sector over the next fifty years.

This challenge aims to strengthen the technological and industrial sovereignty of the countries involved, as it seeks to identify and make available those innovative, enabling technologies that will ensure the generational leap,



generating positive returns and economic and social progress for the entire country system, benefiting new generations.

Within the Cyber & Security Solution Area, we are looking for a Networking & Communication Engineer for our offices in Genoa, Rome, and Naples.

The person will be responsible for the following activities:

- Design, implementation, management, and optimization of systems and services based primarily on Cloud and on-premise infrastructures (Cloud Service Provider Azure, Cisco Network, Firewall, and WAF Solutions);
- Support the design of complex architectures to meet customer requirements with particular attention to security aspects (integrity, availability, and confidentiality), and the effectiveness and efficiency of the designed solutions.
- Ensure the scalability, security, and performance of on-prem environments, collaborating with architects, software developers, system administrators, and security engineers.

Education: Degree in Engineering/STEM disciplines

Seniority: Expert 2-5 years of experience. At least 2 years in Network and Security projects in Cloud environments with excellent knowledge of technologies and attention to security aspects

Technical knowledge and skills:





- Skills in the design and implementation of complex network infrastructures;
- Skills in the design and implementation of network infrastructures in cloud environments (Azure);
- Skills in infrastructure as code;
- Experience in using security tools and protocols such as firewalls, WAF, VPN, IPS/IDS, etc.;
- Knowledge of network protocols, WAN technologies, load balancers, routing, and switching;
- Ability to identify and resolve security vulnerabilities and network issues;
- Experience in network security management, including aspects such as authentication, authorization, and encryption.

Behavioral skills:

- Good team-working attitude;
- Effective communication skills;
- Being a reliable and flexible team player;
- Having a creative mindset and the ability to analyze problems effectively.

Language skills: Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English (C1 level)

Other (e.g., Availability for travel, specific certifications…):

- Certifications - possession of any certifications in the following areas is a preferential requirement:
- Microsoft Certified:
- Azure Networking Engineer Associate;
- Azure Security Engineer Associate.
- Network – Cisco or similar;
- Security – Fortinet, Check Point, F5 or similar;
- Availability to travel nationally and internationally on a monthly basis.
