Role Description The Zookeeper at The Creative Thought is a full-time remote role responsible for the daily care and observation of animals within a specialized program or virtual exhibit environment. This role involves monitoring animal health and behavior, ensuring proper feeding schedules, and maintaining clean, safe habitats according to established standards and guidelines.
The Zookeeper will document observations, follow care plans developed with zoology and wildlife experts, and communicate any concerns promptly to the broader team.
They may also support educational and creative projects by providing accurate animal-related information and insights. Collaboration, clear reporting, and adherence to ethical animal care practices are central to the day-to-day responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Animal Care and Animal Handling, with demonstrated ability to follow species-specific care protocols.
- Knowledge of Zoology and Animal Behavior, including understanding of health indicators, enrichment needs, and habitat requirements.
- Familiarity with Wildlife concepts and conservation principles relevant to captive and managed animal populations.
- Ability to maintain detailed records, follow safety procedures, and comply with ethical and regulatory standards for animal welfare.
- Relevant education in zoology, animal science, biology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is also valued.
- Strong observational skills, clear written and verbal communication, and comfort working independently in a remote setting.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including educators, creatives, or researchers, is an advantage.
