Electrical Engineer – Data Centre
About the opportunity
PeoItaly, an employment agency authorised by the Italian Ministry of Labour, is conducting this search on behalf of a confidential international general contractor specialising in the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical Data Centre projects across Europe.
The client is currently looking to appoint an Electrical Engineer to join the project team supporting a major Data Centre development in the Milan area.
The selected candidate will be employed directly by the client and work primarily on site, supporting the coordination and delivery of electrical systems from technical review and installation through testing, commissioning preparation and handover.
This is an excellent opportunity for Electrical Engineers with experience in complex construction environments who are comfortable working closely with subcontractors, site teams and multidisciplinary engineering functions.
Key responsibilities
- Support the delivery of electrical works in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, quality requirements and the project programme.
- Coordinate with electrical subcontractors and provide technical guidance throughout installation activities.
- Manage, review and coordinate electrical drawings and related technical documentation.
- Monitor electrical installation activities and ensure that works are progressing in line with project requirements and agreed schedules.
- Support the planning and prioritisation of activities within the electrical technical team.
- Verify subcontractor compliance with project procedures, technical requirements and site standards.
- Identify technical issues during construction and apply appropriate troubleshooting and corrective-action processes.
- Coordinate with construction, engineering, quality,
commissioning and other project disciplines to resolve technical interfaces.
- Maintain accurate technical records, registers and project documentation.
- Prepare and coordinate system handover documentation, test packs and supporting records.
- Support the inspection, testing and preparation of electrical systems for commissioning and final handover.
- Monitor compliance with site Health & Safety requirements and promote safe working practices among subcontractors.
- Identify opportunities to improve working methods, site safety and the overall efficiency of electrical activities.
- Support high standards of site organisation and housekeeping throughout the electrical works.
- Participate in proactive site safety observation, reporting and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Candidate profile
We are interested in candidates with:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or another relevant electrical engineering qualification.
- Approximately 5 years or more of relevant professional experience in electrical engineering, site engineering or a comparable project-delivery role.
- Previous experience within an M&E; contractor, general contractor or similarly complex construction environment.
- Practical understanding of electrical installation activities and the coordination of electrical subcontractors.
- Experience reviewing electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- The ability to identify technical issues and support troubleshooting and corrective actions on site.
- Experience maintaining technical records, test documentation and handover packages.
- A good understanding of construction-site Health & Safety requirements.
- Strong organisational, communication and time-management skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Availability to work primarily on site in the Milan area.
Previous experience on Data Centre, mission-critical or similarly complex industrial construction projects would be considered an advantage.
