Exide is looking for a Customer Quality Engineer, who acts as the primary link between customers and the manufacturing plant. He/She represents the voice of the customer within the organization and is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication, problem-solving and continuous improvement activities. The role supports the resolution of customer claims and quality issues, ensures compliance with customer requirements and quality standards, and works closely with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence.
When assigned to a specific customer, he/she may act as Quality Leader, representing the company from a quality perspective and supporting customer satisfaction, risk management and performance improvement.
Main Tasks
- Understand customer requirements and define appropriate preventive and corrective action plans.
- Act as the voice of the customer within the organization, promoting a customer-focused quality culture.
- Coordinate with internal departments to collect information, prepare documentation and provide customer reports.
- Manage customer claims, warranty issues and audit findings, ensuring timely investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Prepare, support and follow up customer audits, ensuring compliance with customer expectations and quality standards.
- Conduct and support internal system, process and product audits.
- Support customer-requested testing activities,
new product launches and product/process homologation projects.
- Deliver training and awareness activities related to customer requirements and quality standards.
- Monitor and report on customer quality KPIs, including PPM, warranty performance, non-conformities and claims status.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as 8D, FMEA and Six Sigma.
- Act as Quality Leader for assigned customers, ensuring customer satisfaction, risk assessment and continuous quality improvement.
- Exercise the authority to stop processes or products in the event of quality-related non-conformities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management or a related discipline.
- Experience in Quality within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Automotive industry experience and knowledge of APQP and PPAP are considered a strong advantage.
- Experience working with international customers and cross-functional teams in a multinational environment.
- Practical knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, 8D and FMEA.
- Knowledge of system, process and product auditing methodologies.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, customer requirements and international quality standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and VDA).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management software.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Strong communication, customer management, teamwork, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
