/p h3ABOUT THE ROLE /h3 pVivienne Westwood is looking for a machinist to support the Design team based in Milan Offices.
The machinist contributes to the Milan Studio team, being responsible for the making of garments from first calico to finished, high quality samples for seasonal collections, fashions Shows or occasionally VIP dressing/clients, with a strong focus on calicos for new developments.
/p h3KEY REPSONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liSewing calicos, toiles and high-quality samples for the seasonal collections, Shows, possibly VIP dressing, MTOs and special projects.
/li liWork confidentiality across all product categories, including Jersey, Tailoring, Evening wear, Corsetry.
/li liDemonstrate versatility in advanced sewing techniques and a willingness to experiment with innovative methods and construction ideas.
/li liCreate precise toiles for new developments, working closely with Pattern Cutters and Designers throughout each stage of development.
/li liRead, understand and accurately interpret patterns, ensuring correct construction and proportion.
/li liExecute exceptional hand and machine sewing, including beading and embroidery, ensuring consistently high craftsmanship.




/li liRecommend appropriate finishing techniques and construction solutions to support design intent and garment quality.
/li liCarry out garment alterations with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring fit, balance and finish are refined to the highest standard.
/li liCut samples accurately, handling fabrics with care and understanding shrinkage, grain and fabric behaviour.
/li liTaking care of studio equipment (e.g. sewing machine, irons, buttonhole machine, etc.),ensuring safe and efficient operation.
/li liMonitor, check and replenish studio stock including fabrics, yarns, zips and other components as needed.
/li liWork effectively under pressure and adapt to extended hours during peak periods, such as pre-show deadlines.
/li liSupport fashion shows as required, including backstage work on last-minute amendments and garment finalisation.
/li liAttend fittings when needed, providing technical insight and support during adjustments.
/li liAny other ad hoc tasks required.
/li /ul h3PROFILE KEY SKILLS /h3 ul liExpert sewing skills for high-quality samples, toiles, and calicos across multiple product categories (jersey, tailoring, corsetry).




Minimum 5 years' experience in the role.
