Freelance AI Engineer (Italian Speaking) | Hybrid, Milan | 6-Month Contract + Extension
Location: Hybrid, 1-2 days per week in Milan
Contract: Freelance
Duration: 6 months initial contract with strong possibility of extension
Daily Rate: Negotiable
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and deploy end-to-end AI solutions for enterprise clients.
- Build intelligent applications using Agentic AI , Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI technologies.
- Develop scalable backend services and APIs using Python.
- Design and implement microservices-based architectures for AI applications.
- Integrate AI models with enterprise systems and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with software engineers, architects and business stakeholders to deliver innovative AI solutions.
- Optimise, test and continuously improve AI applications for performance and scalability.
- Stay up to date with emerging AI technologies and contribute new ideas to the wider engineering team.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years' commercial experience as an AI Engineer .
- Strong commercial experience developing AI solutions using Python .
- Hands-on experience with Agentic AI , Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI (GenAI) .
- Experience designing and delivering end-to-end AI applications.
- Strong understanding of AI architecture, APIs and system integrations.
- Experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.
- Experience working with at least one major cloud platform, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .
- Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes is highly desirable.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, ideally supported by a Computer Science or Software Engineering background.
- Fluent Italian and English .
Nice to Have:
- Experience as a Full Stack AI Engineer , working across the complete AI solution lifecycle.
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents and multi-agent systems.
- Cloud certifications in Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Databricks .
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within Agile development teams.
- Curious, proactive and eager to learn new technologies and AI frameworks.
