The role

28DIGITAL is looking for an Ecosystem Specialist South/Italy, based in our new office in Cagliari, to support the development and operations of our innovation ecosystem in Italy, with a particular focus on Sardinia.

The Ecosystem Specialist will work closely with companies, startups, universities, research organisations, public authorities and other innovation actors, contributing to the development of the local ecosystem and its connection with the wider Italian and European innovation ecosystem.

The role combines administrative and operational support, ecosystem and partner engagement, project activities and events. A key part of the position will be to ensure the smooth running of the Cagliari office, to provide effective operational and administrative support to the wider 28DIGITAL team in Italy, and create connections and opportunities between local stakeholders and 28DIGITAL's network and activities across Italy and Europe.

The Ecosystem Specialist reports to the Regional Director South and collaborates with the South regional team and colleagues across the organisation.

Main responsibilities

Ecosystem development and partner engagement

- Support the development of the 28DIGITAL ecosystem in Italy, with a particular focus on Sardinia.
- Identify and engage relevant companies, startups, universities, research organisations, public authorities and other actors in the local innovation ecosystem.
- Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders and support their connection with the wider 28DIGITAL network in Italy and across Europe.




- Identify relevant opportunities within 28DIGITAL's innovation, education, business and European project activities for local ecosystem stakeholders.
- Facilitate connections and collaboration between Sardinian stakeholders and relevant organisations, initiatives and opportunities in Italy and across Europe.
- Maintain and update ecosystem and partner information and CRM systems.

Project management and funding opportunities

- Support the implementation, coordination and reporting of regional, national and EU-funded projects.
- Contribute to the identification of funding opportunities and to grant acquisition and proposal preparation at regional, national and European level.
- Support the identification and engagement of relevant partners and stakeholders for project proposals and activities.
- Monitor assigned project activities and contribute to timely reporting and compliance with funding requirements.

Regional activities and events

- Support the development and implementation of activities associated with the 28DIGITAL Cagliari office.
- Organise and support local and regional events, workshops, matchmaking activities, stakeholder meetings and other ecosystem engagement activities.
- Participate in relevant innovation ecosystem activities and events, representing 28DIGITAL when appropriate.
- Support the participation of local stakeholders in relevant 28DIGITAL activities and events in Italy and across Europe.
- Coordinate logistics, suppliers and operational procedures related to the Cagliari office and its activities.

Administrative and operational support

- Support administrative processes related to ecosystem activities, partners, projects and events.
- Manage operational processes such as purchase orders, documentation and cost tracking in accordance with internal procedures.
- Support documentation, reporting and administrative coordination across regional activities.




- Produce presentations, documents, ecosystem mappings and statistics at the request of the Regional Director.
- Provide operational support to the Regional Director South and the regional team when required.

Profile required

- BSc/BA in business administration, economics, innovation, European studies, STEM or another relevant field. MSc/MA is an asset.
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience in areas such as innovation, project management, stakeholder engagement, business development, European projects or ecosystem activities.
- Interest in and understanding of the Italian innovation ecosystem. Knowledge of the Sardinian ecosystem is a strong asset.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in working with companies, startups, universities, research organisations, public authorities and other innovation stakeholders.
- Experience with regional, national or EU-funded projects is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder and international environments.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Proactive, curious and service-oriented, with the ability to manage different tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a regional and international team.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications and common digital collaboration tools. Experience with HubSpot or similar CRM systems is desirable.

Languages

Fluent Italian and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, are required. Additional European languages are an asset.

Place of employment

The position is based at the 28DIGITAL office in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy.

The role involves active engagement with stakeholders across Sardinia and may require occasional travel within Italy and to other 28DIGITAL locations and activities across Europe.
