Superyacht Data is growing, and we’re looking for a Technical Business Development Manager to join our team in Viareggio.
This is a hybrid technical and commercial role for someone who already knows the superyacht industry, understands the technical environment onboard, and has the commercial ability to develop relationships and turn opportunities into business.
The role will be primarily focused on business development, with periodic hands-on involvement in our professional services projects onboard yachts and at shipyards.
About us
Superyacht Data provides professional services to the superyacht industry, specialising in PMS implementation, technical data management and related consultancy. We work directly with yachts, shipyards and management companies and support projects across different PMS and yacht management software platforms.
FLUID is a yacht management software platform with its own brand and product identity, built to support the day-to-day management and technical operations of yachts.
The two businesses are closely connected through their knowledge of yacht operations and technology, while maintaining distinct roles in the market.
As we enter our next stage of growth, we are looking for someone who will work across both Superyacht Data and Fluid — developing new business for our professional services while supporting the commercial growth of Fluid.
The role Your primary responsibility will be developing new business across both Superyacht Data and Fluid , working with two distinct but complementary offerings within the superyacht industry.
For Superyacht Data, you will develop opportunities around PMS implementation, technical data management and other professional services. For Fluid, you will help grow the adoption of our yacht management software and develop relationships with yachts, management companies, shipyards and industry partners.
You will work directly with Captains, Chief Engineers, Technical Managers and other industry professionals — identifying opportunities, understanding their requirements and developing those relationships into long-term clients.
An existing understanding of the superyacht industry and its network is therefore an important part of this role. We are looking for someone who understands how the industry operates, is comfortable developing relationships within it, and can communicate credibly with both technical and commercial decision-makers.
This is also not a purely commercial or desk-based position.
Part of the role will involve working alongside the Superyacht Data Professional Services team on selected yacht and shipyard projects. This may include vessel visits, technical inspections and data collection and requires a practical understanding of onboard machinery, systems and components.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing new business opportunities for both Superyacht Data and Fluid
Proactively developing and leveraging relationships across the superyacht industry
Identifying and approaching prospective clients and partners
Building relationships with yachts, management companies, shipyards and other industry stakeholders
Meeting Captains, Chief Engineers, Technical Managers and other decision-makers
Understanding client requirements and identifying appropriate technical and commercial solutions
Developing opportunities for PMS implementation, technical data management and other Superyacht Data professional services
Presenting and demonstrating Fluid to prospective clients
Developing commercial opportunities and partnerships for Fluid
Preparing and following up commercial proposals
Managing opportunities and maintaining a structured sales pipeline through the company’s CRM
Attending yacht shows, industry events and client meetings
Visiting yachts and shipyards internationally
Supporting the Superyacht Data Professional Services team on selected onsite projects
Bringing client and market feedback back into our commercial, product and operational teams

You should have a strong understanding of onboard systems, machinery and components and be comfortable working in engine rooms, interpreting technical documentation and interacting directly with Chief Engineers, Technical Managers, shipyards and other engineering professionals.
An established network within the superyacht industry is a strong advantage. xykwogc We are particularly interested in candidates who already understand the industry’s key stakeholders and have developed professional relationships with yachts, crew, management companies, shipyards, technical suppliers or other relevant organisations.

Has strong commercial instincts and enjoys developing new business
Is proactive and comfortable working independently
Is prepared to be hands-on when supporting technical projects onboard
Is comfortable working onboard yachts and in shipyard environments
Enjoys travelling, meeting clients and developing new relationships
Is organised and disciplined in managing opportunities and follow-ups

Speaks fluent professional English (essential) and Italian; additional languages are a strong advantage
