A client company specializing in the design and manufacture of machinery and systems is seeking, for its headquarters, a:
Furnace Designer for Aluminum Metallurgy and Combustion Systems
Role Context
International high-technology company.
Position within Mechanical Design and R&D;, reporting to the Technical Director.
The candidate will be responsible for the thermal, fluid-dynamic, and mechanical design of industrial furnaces for the melting and treatment of aluminum (reverberatory furnaces, melting furnaces, holding furnaces, shaft/pit furnaces) and their related combustion systems (burners, gas trains, heat recovery systems), ensuring energy efficiency, compliance with safety regulations, and process optimization.
Duties / Responsibilities
1. Technical design and development.
2. Thermal sizing.
3. Modeling and calculation of the fluid-dynamic flows of combustion gases.
4. 3D modeling and 2D drafting of furnace steelwork and refractories.
5. Design and sizing of combustion systems.
6. Development of plant layout and positioning of piping, valves, and instrumentation.
7. Material selection (e.g., refractory bricks).
8. Application of mandatory regulations.
9. Drafting of technical specifications, bills of materials (BOM), operating manuals, and CE directives.
10.
Coordination with industrial automation (PLC/SCADA) for thermoregulation logic.
Technical Requirements
1. Degree in Mechanical, Thermotechnical, Energy, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent background.
2. Minimum of 5 years' experience in the design of furnaces for aluminum metallurgy and combustion systems.
3. Experience with steelwork structures and refractories.
4. Knowledge of 3D modeling systems (SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo).
5. Knowledge of tools for FEM analysis and fluid-thermal CFD simulations (ANSYS, Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar).

Location: Milano (south).
Contract type and salary package: The position entails a permanent contract.
