The Design Engineer supports the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of hydraulic rotary actuator products and related components. This role is intended for an engineer in the early stages of their career who is building technical depth in hydraulic systems, mechanical design, product performance, and manufacturability.
Your day-to-day
- Support the design and development of hydraulic rotary actuators, housings, shafts, seals, bearings, stops, and related mechanical components.
- Create and revise 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation in accordance with applicable standards and internal procedures.
- Prepare and maintain bill of materials, engineering change orders, specifications, and release packages.
- Assist in performing design calculations for torque, pressure containment, stress, fatigue, deflection, sealing, and tolerance stack-up.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and design verification activities.
- Support prototype build, test planning, data collection, and test result analysis for product validation and performance characterisation.
- Investigate product or process issues using structured root cause and corrective action methods.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to improve design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and cost.
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to support component selection, material evaluation, and technical issue resolution.
- Support compliance with quality, safety, regulatory, and customer-specific requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on product reliability, lead time, quality, and cost reduction.
- Communicate technical information clearly to cross-functional stakeholders and, when required, to customers.
Who We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent is a plus.
- 0–5 years of engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, or entry-level product design experience.
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
- Basic understanding of fluid power or hydraulic systems.
- Experience with 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawings – Ideally Inventor.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and test data.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English is a must, Italian is a plus.

The guaranteed base gross annual salary established for the role is €38.000. The specific compensation offered will be determined based on objective criteria, including the experience, skills and qualifications of the selected candidate.
