Org. Setting and ReportingThe United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world. This position is located in the Property Management Unit, Planning and Sourcing Support Section, Supply Chain Service, based in the United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) in Brindisi. The incumbent will report to the Chief Property Management Unit.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the Chief Property Management, and in line with the established United Nations Rules and Procedures, the incumbent is responsible for providing support in the efficient management of Claims and Property Survey programme in UNGSC and ensures its effective and timely operations. The Claims Assistant acts as the primary point for performing administrative and secretariat functions for Local Claims Review Board (CRB) and Local Property and Survey Boards (LPSB) in line with delegated authority. The Claims Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: u**** Prepares and presents cases to the Local Property Survey Board (LPSB) and Claims Review Board (CRB), provides clarifications and information to the Board(s) when requested, and follows up on actions and recommendations made by the committee(s). u**** Provides administrative support to the Chairperson of CRB. u**** Prepares and disseminates recommendations and approval of LPSB and CRB or Head of the Mission/Delegated Authority to concerned parties for actions u**** follow-up on actions to be taken. u**** Prepares and reviews Administrative Write-off cases (AW) and corresponding summaries and supporting documents, verify accuracy and reasonableness while ensuring that UN Rules and Regulations are complied with; ensures that that all documentation is promptly submitted, and case files correctly established. u**** Provides support in management of Claims activities in UNGSC, ensuring effective and efficient operation. u**** Reviews and analyzes compensation claims, and documentation received from other sources (Local Police, staff members and/or third-party claimants or their lawyers), in connection with loss or damage of property. u**** Provides support in analyzing documentation concerning loss of life, physical injury and loss/damage to property and records claims by category.



u**** Manages staff-initiated accident and incident reports, relevant security reports and damage discrepancy reports (DDR) for review by LPSB and actively follows up with Security and Transport Section to ensure that reports submitted are accurate and timely. u**** Reviews, investigates, and collects additional information on third party compensation claims arising from traffic accidents involving UN vehicles and claims arising from UN occupancy of premises to facilitate a determination on the responsibility for the organization. u**** Maintains contact with Security and Liaison Sections/Vehicle Insurance Companies representatives/Third parties and Headquarters CRB in connection with claims cases involving UN properties/members for their discussion and finalization. u**** Follows-up on cases with third party insurance representatives and relevant Offices as and when required. u**** Updates Accidents/Incident database and facilitates the monitoring of any repetitive misconduct. u**** Arranges on-site visits to resolve discrepancies and contradictions in the evidence or for securing additional information. u**** Manages and updates the write-off and disposal transactions related to property survey using an ERP system such as Umoja. u**** Prepares reports and maintains statistics pertaining to claims and write-off cases. u**** Perform other tasks as required.

EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific QualificationCertificate in Property Management and/or Fixed Asset management is desirable. Certificate in data analytics, business analytics or equivalent is desirable.
Work ExperienceA minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in claims and property survey, legal or paralegal related functions is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 5 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in the field of property write-off and disposal is desirable.
