We are looking for a
Senior Integration Architect
to join the
Knowledge Management & Data team
of the JRCs ICT competence centre in Ispra. You will be responsible for
integrating AI capabilities into JRC business applications
— including the GENESIS UI and ALOHA platforms — ensuring alignment with business needs, technical requirements, and European Commission standards. You will work within a large, multicultural and multilingual international organisation, contributing to independent, evidence-based science that supports EU policies. What you will do
Design, plan and implement integration strategies within an HTTP/S ecosystem Apply distributed-architecture best practices to solve complex integration problems between information systems Design, implement and document APIs, exposed securely on a public-facing API Gateway Design, implement and deploy workflows Develop, deploy and manage integration solutions on containerised infrastructure Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure solutions meet organisational standards for security, scalability and maintainability Working conditions
Near-site
service provision with a minimum of
2 days per week on-site
at the JRC Ispra premises; ad hoc on-site presence may be requested with 2 hours notice High degree of discretion required when handling personal or confidential data; signature of the Commissions Ethics reminder is required
Mandatory requirements
University degree (EQF Level 7
— masters degree or 5 years of higher education) Minimum 20 years of IT professional experience English B2 or higher
(spoken and written) 10+ years
of experience in each of the following: HTTP and API design RESTful and SOAP web services (design and consumption) Asynchronous communication and publish/subscribe techniques and technologies 5+ years
of experience in each of the following: Docker, Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures Distributed/microservice architectures and complex event processing Web security, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect API management platforms (e.g. WSO2, CAPI) for securing, publishing and analysing APIs CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo, GitLab CI) All experience must be verifiable through evidence provided in the CV. Soft skills
Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills Ability to produce IT architecture documentation for complex integration patterns, plus clear operational and design reports Experience contributing to and leveraging open-source technologies and communities Comfortable in an international, multicultural environment and multilingual meetings Able to work both autonomously and in a team, with a results-oriented, delivery-focused mindset
