Job ID: 10377435 | Amazon Data Services, Inc.Job OverviewAWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. In this role you will perform project‑related work such as building load and water use calculations, equipment selection, concept sketches, and CFD modelling, and you will be the CFD subject‑matter expert providing detailed report documents and assisting senior engineers with detailed project work.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop mechanical documentation including narratives, drawings, specifications, etc.Drive process improvements across the organization.Perform building energy use calculations to determine capacity and type of cooling system required.Perform CFD models on innovative designs and provide reports to senior leadership.Perform water efficiency calculations to determine quantity of water needed on site.Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to answer requests for information.Work with global mechanical engineering teams to achieve alignment of design and CFD modeling standards.Develop special projects and assist senior engineers with detailed calculations for special projects.Provide direct influence over the mechanical design and construction of new data centers and general capital endeavors.Use business analysis and practices including Total Cost of Ownership and Return on Investment models.Create product and project specifications, requests for proposals, and capital requests.Work closely with hardware designers to optimize interfaces between IT equipment and the facility.Provide total project management and oversight of construction, including ownership of the project scope, timeline,
and budget.Record and report key metrics to team members and management.Drive teams to provide root‑cause analysis, quantify customer exposure, and deliver remediation and long‑term corrective measures.Travel domestically every other month and annually to a global location.About the TeamThe Data Center Global Services Team is a diverse, upbeat, and creative group of engineers and managers who develop architectures and technologies that drive future data center designs. The team values knowledge sharing and mentorship across a broad mix of experience levels.Basic Qualifications4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer License.Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.Understanding of building plans, project specifications, and building controls documentation.Intermediate proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word.Prior project management experience is beneficial but not required.Fundamental understanding of International Code Council codes.Experience with building load calculation software.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
