The position
We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to strengthen our service and mission software architecture.
This candidate will carry out activities spanning Research & Development and Operations, to create innovative, state-of-the-art solutions with strong technical impact. The selected candidate will contribute to the development of next-generation capabilities that support mission-critical space-based surveillance and tracking activities.
Key responsibilities
- Take an active part in building, deploying, and maintaining backend services across development and production environments:
- Support our microservice architecture
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs connecting our software components and third-party systems
- Contribute to automating builds, tests, and deployments
- Help configure and monitor cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking)
- Support database setup, maintenance, and basic performance tuning
- Build small internal tools, scripts, and dashboards to improve team workflows and system monitoring.
- Adhere to clean coding practices, and write and maintain clear documentation for systems, deployments, and processes; help troubleshoot and resolve incidents.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other engineers on day-to-day technical work. Stay curious about new tools and DevOps practices, and share what you learn with the team.
- Desired skills
- Bachelor's degree (Master's a plus) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, ideally with some hands-on backend, cloud, or DevOps experience (professional, academic, or personal projects).
- Good grasp of backend development fundamentals: OOP, API design, Git, and at least one backend language/framework (e.g., Python, Node.js). Python is currently preferred.
- Comfortable working in Linux/command-line environments, with basic knowledge of Docker, REST and microservice architectures concepts.
- Exposure to databases (SQL or NoSQL) and basic design and optimisation principles.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS), CI/CD, and server management concepts is a strong plus.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously and with an open mind in a fast-paced, international team of people with different backgrounds.
- Fluent in English and Italian; genuine curiosity about cloud-native tech and (ideally) the New Space sector.

ARCA Dynamics is an innovative aerospace company headquartered in Rome,
Italy, specializing in space-based Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) technologies. Founded in 2016, the company develops advanced solutions to monitor and track Resident Space Objects (RSOs), helping make space operations safer, more secure, and more sustainable.
Operating across the entire orbital tracking value chain, ARCA currently provides operational SST services based on space-based observations.
