Safety Manager - Maritime Sector (Oil & Chemical Tankers)

We are looking for a Safety Manager with experience in the maritime sector, preferably on oil and/or chemical tankers, responsible for the management and continuous improvement of safety systems, regulatory compliance, and HSE culture across the fleet.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Technical Department and onboard personnel to ensure compliance with international and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and update the Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with the ISM Code
- Monitor compliance with international regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISGOTT, OCIMF, etc.)
- Plan and conduct internal and external audits (including SIRE/CDI vetting inspections)
- Analyze incidents and near-misses, and implement corrective actions
- Support vessels during inspections and third-party audits
- Promote a strong safety culture both onboard and ashore
- Manage HSE KPIs and reporting
- Liaise with classification societies, maritime authorities, and clients

Requirements





- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Safety/HSE roles within the shipping industry
- Experience on oil/chemical tankers is strongly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of:
- ISM Code
- MARPOL / SOLAS
- ISGOTT
- SIRE and/or CDI processes
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manage non-conformities
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Willingness to travel and attend onboard visits

Nice to Have

- Previous experience as Deck or Engine Officer
- Degree in Naval Engineering
- Familiarity with TMSA
