Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic Telecom System Integration Engineer self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples (Italy).
Mission
The selected professional will be responsible for the end‑to‑end management of the OnBoard Passenger and Information System, including all integrated subsystems and ICT infrastructure. The role ensures correct system configuration, operation, performance monitoring, interface validation, troubleshooting, and technical support during commissioning and maintenance phases.
Accountabilities
- Manage and maintain the Onboard Passenger & Information System (OBIS) and all integrated subsystems.
- Configure operating systems, network components, software services, and onboard devices.
- Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and log/packet analysis to resolve technical issues.
- Validate interfaces and data flows between onboard and wayside systems.
- Support field activities during testing,
commissioning, and service introduction.
- Deploy software updates, patches, configurations, and perform routine health checks.
- Monitor system performance, identify anomalies, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering, software, telecom, and commissioning teams to integrate solutions.
- Translate design and interface documentation into operational configurations and validation procedures.
- Prepare technical reports, findings, and documentation following field activities.
Required Skills/ Knowledge
- The professional will have full ownership of the railway onboard environment across hardware, software, operating systems, networks, data flows, interfaces, and field conditions.
- Experience managing Linux (Oracle/RHEL) and Windows Server platforms, including troubleshooting, scripting (Bash/Python/PowerShell), log and packet analysis, performance monitoring, disk/filesys
