Thales offers solutions to protect the information systems and critical data of its civilian and military customers and helps its customers to detect and prevent cyberattacks by devising secure architectures from the design stage, overseeing these architectures and ensures that they are kept in secure working order. Italia is Thales Group’s competence centre for Airport security and operations management solutions. /p h3JOB OBJECTIVE /h3 pTo gain experience in the design and engineering of complex communication andsecurity systems for defence applications, supporting bids and projects with a focuson modular, interoperable architectures and Design-to-Cost principles.



/p h3ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 pThe candidate will join the System Engineering Team to develop own skills in RD Customer contexts, particularly for Defense business. Hereafter the main activitiesforeseen: /p ul liDesign of Modular Hardware Architectures for Tactical Networking Platforms(RD) /li liTechnical study and preliminary design of a hardware architecture for tacticalnetworking platforms supporting defence and mission-critical communications. /li liEvaluation of alternative hardware solutions, including rugged embedded computers, modular edge-computing platforms, and OpenVPX-based systems, considering scalability, reliability, maintainability, and deploymentconstraints across land, naval, and airborne domains including Drones application. /li liAnalysis of relevant defence and industry frameworks (e.g., MOSA, FMN,OpenVPX/SOSA) and their implications for hardware architecture design. /li liDefinition of computing, networking, storage, timing, power, and expansion requirements. /li liCollaboration with the software architect to ensure hardware/softwarecompatibility and support deployment strategy definition. /li liReference hardware architecture for subsequent platforms implementation. /li liTrade-off analysis of candidate solutions. /li liRecommendations supporting future product development andindustrialization. /li liSonar Systems Engineering for In-Service Support (commercial projects)



/li liSupport the engineering activities related to the in-service support of Sonar Systems deployed on Mine Counter-Measure naval units of the Italian Navy. /li liAnalysis of obsolescence issues affecting electronic and electricalsubsystems and identification of suitable replacement or upgrade solutions. /li liAssessment of interfaces, integration aspects and compatibility with existingsystems and equipment. /li liReview of available technical documentation and reverse engineering oflegacy subsystems where required. /li /ul h3QUALIFICATION EDUCATIONALREQUIREMENTS /h3 ul liMaster’s Degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, Electronics, Robotics, /li liAutomation), Physics or Mathematics. /li liStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systems-oriented mindset. /li liGood understanding of engineering principles applied tohardware/software /li lisystems. /li liAbility to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders,including participation in meetings and presentations. /li liPlanning, reporting, and documentation skills with attention to detail. /li liExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English. /li liAbility to work in hybrid environments (office, remote working, and /li liindustrial/operational sites such as laboratories or shipyards). /li liStrong teamwork capabilities and ability to operate in multidisciplinary andmulticultural environments. /li /ul pAt Thales we provide CAREERS and not only jobs.
