Senior Electrical Engineer, ALG, Amazon Leo GovernmentAmazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The mission of Amazon Leo Government (ALG) team is to leverage existing Kuiper technology and provide high speed, low latency, and secure satellite broadband services to the United States and our allied government customers.Key Job ResponsibilitiesInteract directly with customers to understand technical requirements and translate them into technically robust solutions backed by data and analysis.Lead electrical circuit design (digital and analog power) for hosting sensitive RF and communications payloads, including processing, memory, and communication buses.Design and analyze electronic circuits including Analog Power, Digital Design, Mixed-Signal ADC/DAC, Processors, FPGA, MCU, SoC, Memory, Transceivers, Clock generation, and distribution.Analyze designed circuits using software tools for performance and characterization, including Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) on fabricated Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).Perform electrical design and layout trade studies for electrical and power sub-systems contributing to overall system architecture, integrating inputs from cross-discipline teams.Facilitate cost trades on multiple parallel configurations for cost/manufacturability versus design uncertainty.Deliver well-written documentation, reports, and presentations for technical design reviews and proposal efforts.Design and support test campaigns,
both development and qualification/acceptance, for space hardware.Prepare easy-to-read and technically compelling written reports, and support fellow engineers with design reviews and joint reports and proposals.Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).7+ years of experience in hardware development across the full product life cycle.7+ years of electrical engineering work experience in Space, Aerospace/Defense, Automotive, and/or Communications fields.7+ years of experience with schematic and layout ECAD tools and with PCB design and debugging.Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.US security clearance (TS/SCI) or ability to obtain and maintain it.US citizenship.Preferred QualificationsMaster's or PhD degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline.Experience with complex board designs such as high-speed interconnects, high-reliability designs, avionics, vehicle control systems,
or motor & actuator control electronics.Experience developing and testing satellite bus systems and space/flight hardware.Electronics design/qualification experience in radiation environments or with radiation-tolerant hardware.Experience with rapid iteration prototyping and joint hardware/firmware development with software engineers.Experience analyzing spacecraft electromagnetic environment (RE/CE/RS/CS) to inform design and test.Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python or C/C++.Track record of delivering compelling written reports and complete designs on time, with high quality.High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive; resourceful with minimal direction.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated experience working with government agencies.Security Clearance & CitizenshipThis position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.Work Locations & SalaryEl Segundo, CA – $137,300.00 – $185,700.00 USD annuallyNorthridge, CA – $137,300.00 – $185,700.00 USD annuallyRedmond, WA – $137,300.00 – $185,700.00 USD annuallyThe base salary range for this position is listed above.
