Within the “SAR Algorithms” organizational unit we are looking for a bSAR - InSAR Algorithm Engineer /b bat the Rome Office. /b /p h3About the role /h3 pWe’re strengthening the algorithmic core of our team, which develops large-scale Earth Observation data processing capabilities based on satellite radar data. This role focuses on implementing, optimizing, and designing SAR and InSAR algorithms. You’ll join the Algorithms and Prototypes unit, reporting to the team lead. /p h3What you’ll do /h3 ul liImplement and optimize SAR and InSAR processing algorithms, based on published literature and on designs from the team. /li liPrototype algorithmic improvements in Python, evaluating them against real data and reference results. /li liRefine validated prototypes toward robust, well-tested implementations suitable for large-scale processing. /li liAnalyze algorithm performance and output quality, identifying and diagnosing issues in processing results. /li liContribute to algorithm validation and collaborate with engineering team to integrate them into the processing pipeline. /li liOver time, contribute your own algorithmic designs,



building on a solid theoretical and mathematical foundation /li /ul h3Required: /h3 ul liMaster’s Degree in Physics, Engineering/Scientific or Earth Sciences; with emphasis on EO data processing algorithms and validation. /li li2–5 years of experience in remote sensing, signal processing, or a closely related field. /li liSolid knowledge of SAR fundamentals. /li liStrong Python skills for algorithm prototyping (numpy, scipy, and the scientific Python ecosystem). /li liA solid mathematical background (signal processing, linear algebra, statistics/estimation). /li liRigorous approach to validation/verification activities. /li liAbility to write clear, structured, maintainable code. /li liStrong teamwork and collaboration skills. /li liEnglish proficiency at B2 level or above (written and spoken). /li /ul h3Nice to have: /h3 ul liKnowledge of InSAR techniques (strong plus). /li liExperience bringing scientific code to production level (testing, code review, performance optimization). /li liExperience with Linux. /li liProficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (branching, merge/pull requests, code review). /li liFamiliarity with large-scale or distributed data processing (e.g. HPC environments, Dask). /li liExperience with geospatial data handling and formats (e.g. QGIS, GeoParquet, Zarr).
