At DS Smith Packaging, a leading provider of sustainable fibre-based packaging solutions, we are looking for a Junior Sustainability Analyst to join our team in Vimercate - Italy.
In this role, you will support the implementation of our sustainability agenda in Italy, working closely with Sales, Marketing & Innovation and the international Sustainability Network. You will contribute to customer engagement, sustainability reporting, ESG initiatives, data analysis, and the development of solutions that support both our customers' ambitions and our business objectives.
What you'll do:
✔ Support sustainability initiatives across the Sales, Marketing & Innovation organization through training, communication and awareness activities.
✔ Engage with customers by providing sustainability insights, data and support on ESG-related topics.
✔ Contribute to customer sustainability disclosures, tender responses, questionnaires and reporting activities.
✔ Collect and analyze sustainability data, supporting initiatives related to carbon, circularity, energy, water, waste and sustainable packaging.
✔ Generate Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) and support Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) activities.
✔ Identify and share sustainability best practices and success stories across the organization.
✔ Benchmark customer and competitor sustainability performance and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
✔ Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align sustainability priorities with customer expectations and business goals.
What we're looking for:
✅ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Economics or a related field.
✅ Strong interest in sustainability, ESG topics and environmental challenges.
✅ Analytical mindset and confidence working with data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI or similar).
✅ Knowledge of Carbon Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies is considered a plus.
✅ Fluent in English, both written and spoken (C1 level or above).
✅ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
✅ Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
✅ Networking and stakeholder management capabilities.
✅ Proactive attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn.
✅ Creative, forward-thinking and solution-oriented mindset.
✅ Methodical, structured and detail-oriented approach to work.
