We are hiring Geospatial Data Scientist - Earth Observation & Satellite Data for the EU Commission in Ispra, Italy and various locations around Europe.
Maintenance of tools to handle and analyze satellite imagery, including SeaDAS (SeaWiFS Data Analysis System) and SNAP (ESA’s Sentinel Application Platform);
Development, maintenance,
and documentation of the scripts required to run a batch-mode processing of satellite data with appropriate software (relying principally on SeaDAS and SNAP modules) with particular attention to ancillary data;
Testing and operating this environment with past and current sensors (including Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3, Landsat missions) and managing the D02 ocean color data archive;
Search and download satellite and environmental data through web platforms, catalogues and APIs, including WEkEO and the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE);
Contributing to the assessment, comparison and time analysis of satellite data series through the development of appropriate software, which might require reprojection, resampling, subsetting, mosaicking, masking and format conversion;
Use QGIS for spatial analysis, data visualisation, quality checks and map production;
Integrate satellite data with other geographical, environmental and in-situ datasets
