My client is looking for an Optical Communications Systems Engineer, focused on validation and characterisation of next-generation, optical communication products. As an Optical Communications Engineer, you will cover high-speed modulators, telecom systems, and photonic device performance. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an R&D; team, developing advanced telecom technologies.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans to verify functionality, performance and robustness of optical communication products
- Define and implement system-level validation strategies for telecom and photonic devices
- Design test methodologies that replicate real-world customer operating conditions
- Build and configure laboratory test environments representative of telecom systems
- Characterise high-speed modulators and optical communication hardware throughout development
- Analyse measurement data,
identify performance limitations and perform root-cause investigations
- Support interoperability, integration and customer validation activities
- Develop automated test procedures to improve repeatability and efficiency
- Produce clear technical reports and recommendations based on test results
- Work closely with design, process and application engineering teams to improve product performance and reliability
Requirements
- Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Photonics or a related discipline
- 3–8 years experience in testing, validation or characterisation of optical or telecom products
- Experience with optical communication systems, fibre-optic transmission or telecom architectures
- Strong understanding of system-level performance and device behaviour
- Experience developing and executing structured validation plans
- Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation including oscilloscopes and optic
