Metal Welder

Job Summary:
The primary objective of the Metal Welder is to weld, cut, and fabricate metal components and products by using plasma cutting and hand welding equipment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job
Welds and fabricates various products and equipment using cutting and welding techniques and equipment
Monitors the welding process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage
Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded
Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area daily
Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Thorough understanding of welding systems and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair
Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints
Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms
Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills
Eager to learn, take initiative, and leadership skills with an ownership mindset
Must be a team player with a positive attitude and strong time management skills
Ability to work extended hours with little advance notice to meet project deadlines, if needed
Must be able to audibly communicate clearly (regularly talk and hear), read at a distance and close to eyes with or without correction
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Requires sitting, standing, walking, and bending for 8-hour periods.
Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dust, or dirt
