The European Molecular Biology Laboratory is a powerhouse of biological expertise.** EMBL's IT Services team delivers and supports IT infrastructure and services across our sites in Heidelberg, Barcelona, Rome Grenoble and Hamburg. The Desktop Support team in Heidelberg provides high-quality first-level and desktop support to a diverse, international user community, while also managing key Windows backend services. In addition, the team plays an important role in EMBL's scientific training mission by providing and maintaining IT training environments for the EMBL Advanced Training Centre. We are looking for an experienced, service-oriented **IT Support Engineer**to join our Desktop Support team **at EMBL Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany**. **Your role**
- Provide professional desktop support for macOS, Windows, and Linux systems, as well as mobile devices.
- Manage system and software deployments using enterprise tools (e.g. Microsoft SCCM, JAMF Pro).
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues across supported platforms.
- Deliver a responsive, user-focused helpdesk service with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.
- Track, document, and manage support requests in line with IT service management best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT services, infrastructure and user experience. **You have**
- At least 2 years of professional experience in an IT support environment.
- A degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience managing and supporting Windows, Linux and macOS systems, including desktop and mobile platforms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange and Microsoft 365 services.
- Knowledge of virtualisation and VDI technologies (e.g. VMware Horizon).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.

- Experience with enterprise software deployment and configuration management tools (e.g.
