Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Eco Design Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks within our Rolling Stock Engineering Department. The position is based in Pistoia - IT.

Accountabilities
- Act as the Ecodesign and Chemical Compliance focal point for rolling stock projects, ensuring alignment with internal sustainability requirements and applicable regulations.
- Collect, analyse, and manage environmental and technical data to develop Life Cycle Assessment (LCA),
Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) studies in accordance with ISO 14040, ISO 14044, ISO 14025, and ISO 14067.
- Support the integration of ecodesign principles and sustainability criteria throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Engineering teams to support supplier selection and engagement based on sustainability, circular economy, and environmental performance evidence.
- Provide technical support on ecodesign, circularity, material sustainability, and chemical compliance topics to internal stakeholders.
- Represent the company in European and international working groups focused on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Circular Economy, Ecodesign, and related sustainability initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainability strategies, methodologies, and best practices across the business.
