Role: Cost Engineering – Metal stamping & welding Experience: 3–5 Years Work Mode: Hybrid HCLTech is hiring a
Cost Engineer – Metal Structures
to support cost engineering activities for automotive seat components, with a strong focus on
steel/aluminum stamping, welding, manufacturing processes, and should-cost analysis
.
Develop should-cost calculations for automotive components using bottom-up costing methodologies.
Support Design-to-Cost (DTC) activities during vehicle development programs.
Analyze variable costs, tooling costs, and manufacturing feasibility for new and modified components.
Provide technical cost insights to support sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations.
Conduct gap analysis of supplier quotations and cost breakdowns.
Evaluate engineering changes and identify cost drivers for both variable and tooling costs.
Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, suppliers, and global cost engineering teams.
Visit suppliers to assess manufacturing processes and identify best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience in
manufacturing, production, quality, process engineering, costing, or cost engineering
.
Strong expertise in
steel/aluminum stamping and welding processes
.
Knowledge of
Progressive, Transfer,
and Tandem Press operations
.
Understanding of welding line industrialization, spot welding, and welding seam design.
Experience supporting supplier negotiations with cost analysis.
Automotive manufacturing industry experience is mandatory.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
Experience in developing
EDD, variable costs, and tooling costs
for automotive components.
Proficiency in
NX and Teamcenter
.
Advanced Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business is advantageous.
Preferred Experience Automotive Cost Reduction Programs.
Should-Cost Modelling and Cost Engineering.
Benchmarking and Global Cost Comparison Analysis.
