Lead Electrical Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join a leading international engineering organisation on a major data centre project in Milan, Italy.
This is a senior technical leadership role with genuine ownership of the electrical engineering scope, covering design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading electrical engineering delivery across the project
- Managing and coordinating the electrical engineering team
- Reviewing electrical designs and identifying technical gaps and risks
- Working across LV and MV electrical systems
- Validating cable sizing and technical assessments
- Preparing and managing electrical technical submittals
- Coordinating design with BIM and construction teams
- Supporting electrical equipment procurement and vendor management
- Providing technical support throughout installation
- Conducting electrical system walkdowns
- Managing specialist vendors during commissioning
- Coordinating testing, commissioning and system handover
- Compiling test packs, FTOPs and O&M; documentation
- Supporting client training
- Managing technical interfaces with clients, designers, contractors and suppliers
- Supporting programme, QA and EHS requirements
- Mentoring and developing project and graduate engineers
We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
- 7+ years’ electrical project engineering experience
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- Strong LV/MV experience
- Major construction project experience
- Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial or other mission-critical experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical regulations and design standards
- Experience with ETCI, BS 7671, EN and IEC standards
- Strong technical submittal and design review experience
- Experience with electrical installation, testing and commissioning
- Strong client, consultant, vendor and contractor management experience
- Excellent technical problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience mentoring and developing engineers
Experience with Amtech, DIALux, AutoCAD 2D, Adobe Pro and MS Office would be advantageous.
