ppThe Engineer (m/f/i) - Wire Cable will manage projects related to New Work Certification, Performance Testing, and Follow-Up Services for Engineered Materials, with a primary focus on the wire and cable industry. This position involves frequent customer interaction via email, Microsoft Teams, and phone, requiring strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. /p pThe candidate must work independently, prioritize projects based on customer timelines, and support the sales team in preparing quotes. Additional responsibilities include resolving non-conformances identified during follow-up sample testing under UL’s mark integrity program and contributing to special projects that support technical and professional development. /p pLocation: Carugate (Milan) / Italy /p pWork arrangement: hybrid ( 3 days office / 2 days home office) /p ul lipDetermines project scope, develops a preliminary plan of investigation, and determines project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction. /p /li lipProjects may include travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites. Initiates communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services. /p /li lipFollows up on contacts from clients. /p /li lipCommunicates with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements. /p /li lipActs to address client concerns and to resolve client issues. /p /li lipProvides technical assistance to clients in reference to product inspection and follow-up services. Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements. /p /li lipIs familiar with applicable standards, company manuals and appropriate technical literature. /p /li lipExamines samples for compliance with UL requirements and notifies client of any areas in which the product is not in compliance or of any changes in project scope or specifications. /p /li lipCoordinates laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians, scheduling and reviewing work of laboratory technicians and engineering assistants and establishing completion dates. /p /li lipCoordinates administrative aspects of project management. /p /li lipMay serve as Project Handler of record and/or Reviewer of record as assigned.
/p /li lipCommunicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports. /p /li lipPrepares Follow-Up Service Procedures and information pages. /p /li lipIntegrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. /p /li lipResolves engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations. /p /li lipAssists in the development of UL requirements. /p /li lipAssists in developing special test methods and test equipment. /p /li lipAnalyzes test program for adequacy and sequence. /p /li lipMay coordinate and/or perform File Reviews, as directed. /p /li lipMay represent UL at industry related functions such as seminars and trade shown. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. /p /li lipPerforms other duties as directed. /p /li lipBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Electronics or Materials Engineering or related field. /p /li lipAny relevant work experience in Wire Cable field is considered a plus /p /li lipAny relevant work experience in CPR scheme is considered a plus /p /li lipStrong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. /p /li lipAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively. /p /li lipFamiliarity with UL, IEC, and other international standards for Wire Cables is preferred. /p /li lipFluent in English with the ability to write technical reports. Good Knowledge of German or other language is a plus. /p /li lipAttention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. /p /li lipTeam player with a proactive approach. /p /li lipTotal Rewards: We understand that remuneration and benefits are important when deciding on your next career move. The annual salary range for this position is EUR 29.000 - 38.000 gross, determined by numerous factors, including knowledge, skills, and experience.
