SMS group S.p.A. is an Italian company wich can count more than 500 employees in three different location of Tarcento (Udine), San Donato Milanese (Milan) and Genoa, with its wide technical expertise, is specialized in the production of innovative and turn-key plants, such as hot and cold rolling mills for flat products, process lines, reheating furnaces and heat treatment lines, rolling mills for long products, meltshops and continuous casting machines.
SMS Group is seeking an experienced candidate for the position of Technical Sales Manager. The role is responsible for managing the technical sales activities for Gas Cleaning Plants and related solutions. This position includes preparing technical and commercial proposals, defining the scope of supply, coordinating internal technical functions, and supporting customer-facing activities to ensure competitive, complete, and technically sound offers.
The ideal candidate will be technically proficient, commercially minded, and experienced in managing complex technical proposals in an international environment.
Technical Sales Manager YOU ACT Manage the entire technical flow of the offer for the assigned Scope of Work, including requirements collection, assumption validation, technical sizing, and preparation of technical deliverables
Ensure the preparation of complete, coherent, competitive, and technically compliant proposals, aligned with contractual requirements and internal cost/performance targets
Generate and regularly update technical specifications, functional descriptions, performance requirements,
base documentation, and interface requirements with the customer's plant and utilities
Define and update the scope of supply, including main and complementary supplies, exclusions, supply conditions, and Scope/BOQ documentation
Contribute to cost calculation and technical sizing activities to ensure competitiveness and alignment with internal targets
Coordinate the technical content of the offer with internal functions, including Engineering, Supply Chain, CoE/Process Specialists, and Implementation
Prepare and maintain sales and marketing materials in coordination with internal structures, ensuring consistency with technical claims and market positioning
Support technical request handling during negotiations, including technical clarifications, scope revisions, and requirement integrations
Prepare and regularly update the Group's CRM with relevant commercial and technical data, including opportunity status, milestones, technical feedback, assumptions, risks, and follow-up needs
Execute customer visits and xkiyazw technical sessions to gather requirements, verify constraints, clarify technical aspects, and align expectations on performance and integration
Participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, and external events by preparing technical commercial content, presentations, technical reports, and post-event opportunity assessments
Analyze market demand, customer needs, and industry trends, translating them into technical requirements and commercial opportunities
Consolidate technical feedback from the market, customers, and reference plants to support continuous improvement Preferred Qualifications
YOU KNOW PM experience in the steel industry, or in environmental facilities (filtration and similar systems)
Good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
Professional use of the main Office tools (Excel, Word, Project, etc.)
Professional use of SAP
